How am i supposed to become a vegetarian like this?!
Answers: my parents buy meat!! we mostly have like fried meat and hamburger helper a lot cuz we have to use food stamps, but i dont really like emat,, and i need to eat, but my parents keep making me meaT! what should i do?
I was in the exact same situation when I was in high school and lived at home, it can be very tough without supportive parents. I usually just ended up eating the meat-free things they cooked like veggies, fries, soup, stuff like that. Maybe make some pasta or rice without meat and eat some beans for protein, they're cheap.
Tell your parents how you feel and why you want to stop eating meat. Tell Them that you will refuse to eat meat until they start getting vegi foods. Live of cereal or sumthing that you like that contains no meat. Good luck!! ;)
sit thm down, tell them how you feel then, if they understand, suggest tofu or fish.
Explain to them what your feeling are and why you feel they way they do. If you are a minor, the only option you really have is to hope your parents are understanding...
News flash - you're a minor, it's their house and you live by their rules. If you want to make the decisions, start supporting yourself. It's very arrogant and childish of you to make demands when you're not the one providing the support. "Beggars can't be choosers." Try getting a job and buying your own food.
only eat vegetarian animals
Buy yourself some seeds and create your own garden. I'm not sure how old you are but parents only try to do what they think is best for you don't hate them for that. Try to sit them down and tell them you have something important to talk to them about. It will catch their attention when you say"important" make sure the TV is off and you are alone with your parents. This setup will help them understand how important this is for you. Also start the conversation with something positive like "Mom/dad I really appreciate you taking care of me and providing my food but...." Because if you come out and say "I don't like meat and I'm sick and tired of you making it for me" they are going to get defensive and tell you to provide your own food. Back to the garden, it will be a learning experience and show your parents that you are willing to do your part in eating vegies by growing the seeds and getting part of the families vegies and even fruits from your garden and maybe they can buy some that are not in season.
Food stamps can also be used to purchase fruits and vegetables and whole grains. When I was a teenager and living at home, the compromise was if meat was the main dish, all the side dishes were vegetarian, so I would make a meal out of the side dishes. Perhaps if you volunteered to plan and prepare a meal once a week or so your parents would be more receptive to buying (vegetarian) ingredients you need.
