I'm behind you all the way!!
Take it one step at a time. Maybe you'll find it to be easier than you thought. I suggest using brown rice instead of white and whole wheat instead of white breads. Also start using Quinoa which is an excellent source of complete proteins. I usually mix it in with my rices.
The first time I went vegan it did not stick. I kept trying because of my conscience and now I don't miss cheese or eggs. Milk was not hard and I really never liked egg but cheese was the hardest.
When I was vegan long enough I finally could breathe for the first time in my life through both nostrils. Dairy is a major mucus contributor. When you realize how much better you feel you won't want to go back.
Best of wishes : )
Taralyn can't even spell "hypocrite" so don't pay much attention to her "witty" joke.
I think that's awesome that you're trying out veganism! I hope it goes great and you decide to stick with it! Good luck!
hollywood i'm here!! and i'm here for the next month for you!! any help needed just email me, you only have to ask even if you just need to talk!
i am well proud of you for trying and i know its not easy for you! ((((big hug))) x
I went vegan, at first I cooked a lot of amazing foods, because I was scared about what I could and could not eat.
But now its all back to everyday living.
Eating out is bit more tricky, but again its just about time.
I wish you the best of luck my new began friend! - also you can always write and ask questions when you hit hard time!
Go for it Hollywood. It's actually really easy. It's all about changing habits.
There are some really good websites, such as www.veggieglobal.com and www.vegsource.com or look up your local vegetarian society which give you info as well as food ideas.
Also, maybe if you're into Facebook you can find a vegan group there also where you can be in regular contact and help each other along with any suggestions or new info.
I think being vegan makes you more creative and in tune with yourself as you actually have to think about what you put into your body.
I cannot be categorised as a vegetarian because I eat fish. I feel sorry for mammals, however my sympathies do not extend to fish. I bury my head in the sand and try not to think about fish. I admire and support you in your attempts to becoming a vegan, its commendable.
Yay! Good luck!
How long have you been vegetarian?
I have also decided to try veganism... today is day one. o_O.. and have been vegetarian for uhm.. 21 months!
You can do it :)
I'm planning on sticking animal-rights videos on my iPod for a sort of on-the-road inspiration in case I'm tempted by something cheesy.
I don't know how many sites you've been too, but the link is to a forum thread titled appropriately, "Links for New Vegans"
Im a vegan for 2 years and I love it! I reccomend anyone to do it, because im feeling healthier, my skin and hair are glowing, and I just overall feel better since I took animal products out of my diet. Just make sure you are well informed, becuase you need to make sure you know how to get the proper nutrients you need. Especially focus on calcium, vitamin b12, iron, and protein, but thanks to health food stores and enriched vegan foods, it's way easy, and very beneficial to your body, to live happy on a vegan diet!
Good luck!
good luck on going vegan i really dont think that i can do that
I don't know how I can help you, but good luck! Check out www.cok.net and get yourself a starter guide.
I was vegan for the first eight years of my life, and it was great! So I think I can help you out. I'll give you some tips and great things to try.
Tofutti products are the best! They are completely void of any animal products, and they make pizzas, cakes, and even ice cream! Tofutti is definitely the best brand for vegan living.
Tofu sandwiches. Sounds weird? No! Delicious. Go online and you can find a great recipe that is incredible and full of flavor. I don't quite remember how my mom made them, but they're yellow. =p
Veggie patties are great. Gardenburger tends to be better than Boca Burger, but both are a great alternative to ground beef patties.
Stay away from soy sloppy joes! Disgusting! And soy cheese is only good with overpowering accompaniments.
Mochamix ice cream is also good- and soy!
And don't believe people when they say you won't get enough protien as a vegan. Eat nuts and soy and you'll be fine. They have a lot of fat, but vegetables are fat free so it's fine.
Try Miracle Whip mayo substitute because mayo has eggs. Try it only on things with a lot of flavor. Or you can find soy mayo. Whatever you do, don't make a soy cheese and Miracle Whip sandwich. Nasty! Eek!
Get 100% dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate for dairy-free goodness. =D
Email me if you want, and I may be able to refer you to some good vegan brands and foods.
All my support is with you hun!
Rock on!
i decided to go vegan for a month too...and hopefully i won't go back! i am on day nine and so far its been pretty easy. i went shopping and got a bunch of vegan food so i would have no excuse to eat dairy! i also got a cookbook so i could try new recipes to make up for what i can't eat anymore. well anyways good luck, i hope you do well!
Good luck and thank you on behalf of the egg-laying hens and dairy cows :) There are so many delicious products out there - everything from non-dairy cream cheese to vegan whipped cream. Here are some sites that I've found helpful.

my dear god, why would you ever want to do that? You vegans are a bunch of Hippocrates. Even lettuce and artichokes have hearts.
Scottie, dude just go vegan for a month and then let us know how it went. When your month is over come back and talk to me about a nice healthy flexitarian vegan diet. I can help you with that. However, nobody on here can help you go vegan.
