If there's a category specifically for "vegetarian and vegan"?!
Answers: shouldn't there be a category entitled "meat eaters" or "carnivores" or something? i mean, it's only fair...
Get off yer high horse chick...I am a meat eater extraordinaire and derive a significant amount of fantastic information from this forum.
About 60% of the population here are actually commited to what they do and are exceptionally well informed on the subject matter.
If you want a "carnivores" or "meat-eaters" section then peruse the "hunting" forum. Unfortunately you may find yourself riddled with pejorative statements about your ridiculously low level of intellect and tuck your tail and run for the "gaming" forum.
Best of luck.
LOL, OK, sounds fair to me.
No, every other category, such as cooking and recipes, are more specifically for meat eaters. And besides, a lot of you seem to have some fun in this section.
careful. i got a violation notice for suggesting such a thing. apparently it's bigoted to imply such.
I'm all for that, but I'll bet the meat eaters would still come here and hassle V&Vs. After all, *someone* has to ask about whether we eat animal crackers or not... :P
That would be the "Food and Drink" category- since it is for omnivores. Not many people live on meat alone.
Saying that not having a meat eaters category is unfair, is rather like complaining that there isn't a category for heterosexuals, or Anglo-Saxons.
NO.
I know what you mean but people assume everyone eats meat by default, therefore there is the V&V section to cater for us veggies. =) Vegetarians & Vegans are a minority of the world population so we have our own special section :D
Meat eaters are OMNIvores not carnivores! They don't eat meat alone in their diets!!
They also should have a category for "Animal welfare" or "animal activist". But I am sure you wouldnt agree with that...
However, there is no such thing as a carnivore human! Only Omnivore.
You can have "general - food and drink", there are no veggie question in there, just your regular meaty diet questions.
As for having a category for Carnivores, i think you'll find tigers cannot type.
That's just silly. The majority of the world, and certainly the majority of the US is omnivorous (people are not carnivores, no matter how much meat they eat.) So, the entire food and drink section is, by simple majority rule, the territory of meat eaters.
Well, yeah.
It's called the "Food & Drink - General" section as well as the "Cooking & Recipes" section.
Take a look around - they are dominated by meat eating people. We have our little corner of Y!A because most people who include meat in their diets are not well-versed in the lifestyle of vegetarianism or veganism. This is a place for us to go and help people who need information or to gain more information for ourselves.
I'm not vegeterian, but I think the category's called "food and drink" or "recipes". I believe the reason this is a ceparate category is because of the unique food needs of this particular group.
You have a Cooking & Recipes, an Ethnic Cuisine, and a General -- Food and Drink. What more do you want?!
To simply answer your question: it's redundant.
Why are you here starting trouble? General Food & Drink is what it is: a board for anything food related. Rarely vegetarian questions are asked there because they would probably be lost hope which is why this board is created. Or if you really want to break it up into culinary terms, it's a cooking genre as well. Also, humans can not be carnivores because our body cannot tolerate a high cholesterol diet. You are probably one of those people who ask why isn't there a WET just like BET???!?!?! Go whine your ignorance somewhere else.
Yes I guess it would be fair, but the General Food and Drink and Ethnique Dishes would cover Carnivores **hint-hint** for those ppl who ask how to cook fish/meat in the V&V section
-_-.
Wow.... you really are an idiot, aren't you?
Don't you have anything better to do than come and pick a fight using emotive, opinionated and unresearched assumptions and generalisations?
As everyone said, most of the other areas of food and drink aren't specifically meat-less, so this is a place we can come and ask questions where other people are aware of our needs. Just like if there were a section for diabetics, or those with food allergies (which wouldn't be a bad idea to have).
I'm personally VERY offended by your last statement about the “ridiculously unhealthy diet” and us having eating disorders. Yes, there are some people out there that don't know how to eat properly as a vegetarian/vegan, but how else are they supposed to get healthier without a place like this to come to to ask questions? Have you seen all the post about sources of iron, protein, B12, etc.? And there are plenty of us who have been vegetarians/vegans for YEARS and are very healthy. You made a very harsh generalization. What would you think if I made the generalization that all meat eaters are obese and unhealthy?
Based on your thinking, isn't the Beauty & Style section just promoting narcissistic and shallow views? Please stop insulting something you don't know anything about and stick to a category you're familiar with.
