Help for Split Pea Soup?!

Question: What exactly am I looking for when I sort through dried beans, lentils and peas? Am I looking for molded ones or for foreign objects?

You are looking for pebbles, small stones, twigs, or other things that make their way into it during processing. I put them in a bowl of water, then swish them around-anything that doesnt belong will usually kind of jump out and/or float in the water. Anything that looks like it doesnt belong, just chuck it. Its a good idea to give them a good rinse or two-who knows how many people or machines handled them. What time is denner? I will bake us a loaf of fresh bread to go with your soup!

rocks, shriveled peas or beans. ones that look bad compared to the rest

Foreign objects . . . sometimes little stones are sorted with lentils and dried peas somehow. I just made Lentil soup last week . . . it was awesome.

I also discard any discolored peas or lentils.

Anything that's not a good-not shriveled split pea. I.E.-rocks, bad peas, shriveled peas etc.

yeah, probably little rocks, twigs and reject beans.

actually, maybe there is some little treasure that neither of us knows about, keep looking!

I LOVE YOUR BACKGROUND BY THE WAY!!!
