Trust me, when you go vegan the right way, you have SO much more energy.
Make sure you're getting enough iron from dark greens like broccoli, and enough protein, from tofu, soymilk, beans (!), soy cheese, nuts, sprouts, lots of things.
It's tough at first, but if you're strong enough to work through stuff like this, it reallllly pays off. Just look for some vegan stuff in the grocery store. Also check out this page of "accidentally vegan" stuff! http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/
Also, you might wanna try some supplements until you've got yourself a steady diet. Like iron, B complex and B12, and a good multivitamin.
Good luck! Don't give up! <3
it's really not healthy, to not eat. u can be a vegetarian just dont be so strict. vegans are so strict in what they eat. some vegetarians dont eat meat but still eat dairy or will eat fish or poultry maybe
no keep being vegan. it isnt natural to drink cow breastmilk. it sounds like you just havent found the right nutrients. go on www.goveg.com to help you, and ask your mom to go to the store and buy beans, lentils, avocadoes, soy milk, etc etc.
read food labels and make sure your daily intake of 45 grams of protein are met. dont go overboard with protein tho, its far worse to have to much protein then to little.
also spirulina is good for vegans, its a green algae. i take it as a pill 5 times a day. it has lots of protein and b-12, essentials for vegan health.
but of course, be a vegan later if you want. its just not my advice. dairy isnt good for you.
so cool that a 13 yr old is deciding to go vegetarian, rock on with your bad self
PS... ignore the vegan haters. they just arent smart enough to get the essential nutrients. my sisters have been vegans for years... and thier in PERFECT health. ME, 5 months. and i havent been sick once :) which is BIG for me.
I know meat-eaters that feel exactly like you. It may not be veganism that's causing your health crisis but an underlying condition.
If you can't find enough foods to eat because your parents buy all the foods, then I would say to eat vegetarian until you can afford to buy quality vegan foods.
i think you answered your own question.
DONT BE VEGAN!! i was vegan for 2 years and it RUINED my body..seriously switch to vegetarian it is so much easier/better for you!
Hum, not eating in 4 days is not healthy.
If you wish to remain a vegan, you should find foods that provide the supplements you need for energy.
By the way, you do have an eating disorder.
I think at 13.. your body needs a lot of nutrients for it to grow..
a vegan's diet is too strict..
you may wan to consider a vegetarian diet with some white meat, like fish, so you will have protein in your diet for growth...
Seems to me you have already more or less decided to stop being a vegan...
People can lead perfectly healthy lives being both vegan or vegetarian, however it is not healthy to not eat. I did plenty of research before becoming vegan, I also talked to my doctor and bought lots of cookbooks with wonderful recipes. I have been vegan for almost 4 years now (I am currently 15), and I enjoy it a lot, it makes me feel a lot healthier. You should talk to your parents, your doctor, and also do your own research from books at you local library. It can be hard sometimes to get all the nutrients, maybe you aren't ready just yet to change your eating habits.
Good luck and happy eating!

Should I stop being vegan?
YES.
Why would you not eat for 4 days? Sounds like you do have an eating issue which has nothing to do with being vegan.
There are thousands of vegan recipes and meals available – if you can’t find anything to eat, you obviously aren’t looking very hard.
(unless of course, you are one of the many vegan hating trolls who like to post negative comments on here about being vegan!!)
You are lacking energy because you need to consume well-balanced nutritionally sound vegan foods everyday.
So NO, I don’t think you should be a vegan yet. You are obviously too young and too uneducated in nutrition to be able to sustain a healthy way of life.
However, a semi- vegetarian lifestyle would suit you for a few years. Once you get the hang of that, you can make the swap later.
So if this is a genuine question, I suggest you join a Vegan society and read their magazines, plus books on the vegan lifestyle. Then change over when you are more knowledgeable on the subject.
.
Being vegan is not the problem, honey.
You need to make the effort to nourish yourself. Yes, it is a little harder than finding food when you are not a vegan, but eating = living. If you don't eat, you are ABUSING your body.
If you are finding it too hard, don't do it. Ease yourself into it over a number of years if you need to - we aren't going to judge you. Being a teenager means needing SO MANY nutrients to help your body grow - you need to help yourself.
Like I said - being vegan is NOT the problem. Your self loathing is. If you actually cared about yourself, you would be eating.
If you aren't feeling well then being vegan probably isn't for you.
I would recommend waiting to become vegan when you are older and finished growing.
Get less strict. You are growing, get that protein now and grow!!! :) You don't have to kill animals to get that protein :D
Your enemic... Im a vegetarian, that means you dont have enough protien in your body! Eat tomatoes if you wanna stay vegan, otherwise eat meat because they have protien!
if you cannot eat anything or get hungry unless there are animal products involved, then I would say continung to be a vegan is going to kill you. and on that note, I will let you decide what to do.
You should START eating. Is there peanut butter and jelly in the house? Make a PBJ. Eat beans and rice. But for goodness sake, eat SOMETHING.
You're not vegan, you're anorexic, and you need help.
You can't find anything to eat being vegan? How about:
Pizza with no cheese but plenty of veggies
Ravioli
tofu
sweet potatoes, red potatoes, white potatoes
hummus, tabouli, falafel, fattoush
many spicy Indian and Thai dishes
pastas, rice casseroles, vegan lasagna
broccoli, cauliflower, chard, kale, seseame seeds
macaroni and vegan soycheese
Tofurkey (sandwiches, hoagies and "cheesesteak")
pancakes, waffles, cereal
potatoes, vegan bread
general tso's tofu, soups, veggie dogs, veggie burgers
tofu "meatballs"
soy ice cream
vegan cheesecake
bagels with tofu cream cheese
sea vegetables, vegetables, fruits, legumes, breads
veg. chili, stews, couscous, orzo
lentil salad, vegitable salad, pasta salad
dumplings, noodle dishes
peanut butter, other nut butters, nuts, seeds
and many, many more things
Is the reason you can't find food to eat because you are looking for premade, packaged items? You do have to prepare a lot if you are vegan or expect the premade stuff to be bought by your parents. It sounds like you are not getting the stuff bought so I would suggest you learn how to make food to eat. Peanut butter and jelly, potatoes, rice, steamed veggies. It is better to eat something than nothing if premade items aren't going to be bought for you and you can't cook it yourself. Asking your parents to cook a potato out of the question?
Here's some questions: Are you only into veganism to get a trim body or look thin? Do you know the difference between kale and chard? Are you using veganism to be in control of your life? What's a good vegan source of B12?
My point is maybe you should rethink WHY you want to call yourself a vegan. Doing it for some superficial excuse will not be good for you in the long run because it won't motivate you to get the information that you need to eat healthy good food. I and my family are vegan for the animals sake, for the environments sake and for my sake: all three make us who we are.
why not go 4 it
