Is dairy really healthy?!
Answers: i heard that milk decreases the calcium in your body and causes different diseases. does anyone know for sure (dont just answer because you think so or dont think so please)
I won't claim to be any kind of expert here, but from what I've read I've come to believe that humans drinking cow's milk is a completely unnecessary and maybe even damaging practice--not only damaging to humans, but to the dairy cows themselves.
Of course one of the common assertions is that humans are maybe the only animal on Earth that steals the mammary fluid from another species to consume for itself. Why would a human being need to drink milk which was intended for a baby calf with three stomachs who gains hundreds of pounds in its first year of life?!
This is why in order for humans to even be able to drink a cow's milk, we must first de-fat it, pasteurize it, homogenize it and then add more nutrients to it. This is also why so many people end up with dairy allergies--because lactose was not meant for the human body!
The American dairy industry will do everything in its power to continue to dupe society into believing that we need cow's milk in order to be healthy--or specifically, to have strong bones. In fact, studies have shown that cultures who drink less milk actually have less instances of osteoperosis than those who do. How is this possible?
Think about where a cow gets its calcium from--the answer is of course, eating leafy greens. This is the purest and best way for people to get their vitamins and nutrients as well.
And it's not exactly like you hear about vegans having high instances of bone damage or osteoperosis... at least, I haven't!
You should eat/drink dairy in moderation. Humans were not meant to drink cow's milk, cow's were. While dairy is enriched with calcium, there are other healthier ways to get calcium than drinking animal milk.
Yes it is super healthy for your body.
dairy is extremely healthy. milk actually INCREASES the amount of calcium in your body and increases bone strength.
chocolate and ice cream on the other hand...not so good.
Yes, dairy is healthy. You need dairy so that you don't get osteoporosis (brittle bones)!
milk has calcium so it boosts the calcium you have. . It is not healthy to drink after the age of 10 because of the fat content and other elements
What you heard about milk decreasing calcium in the body is actually true. it's been known that milk increases the risk of osteoperois, and can lead to other diseases such as skin rash, gastro-intestinal, blood clotting, high cholesterol, obesity and even behavioral/mental disabilities.
Proof:
The countries consuming the greatest amount of calcium through milk products are suffering the most from calcium deficiencies. These countries have the highest incidence of osteoporosis. Why would the countries with an overflowing supply of calcium-laden milk have the highest rate of calcium-deficiency diseases?
To answer this, let us first consider how much calcium we are getting from milk.
Milk’s available calcium is cut in half through the process of pasteurization. Low-fat milk makes calcium unabsorbable because fat is an essential part of the transportation and absorption of calcium. Refined sugar increases the amount of calcium lost through urine. The absorption of calcium in the intestine is diminished in the presence of sugar. Salt has been shown to increase calcium levels in the urine.
Both cow’s and mother’s milk are high in enzymes. There is an enzyme which separates calcium and phosphorus, allowing the calcium to be readily available to the body. Pasteurizing milk destroys these important enzymes.
Meat and soft drinks are high in phosphorus which binds with calcium making it useless to the body. Coffee, tea, and chocolate have been shown to increase calcium loss in the urine.
Yes, it is extremely unhealthy. Dairy produces mucus, and often the body will develop a cold or "allergies" to fight the dairy invasion. Researchers at Harvard, Yale, Penn State, and the National Institutes of Health have studied the effects of dairy intake on bones. Not one of the studies found that dairy prevents osteoporosis. On the contrary, a study funded by the National Dairy Council itself revealed that the high protein content of dairy actually leaches calcium from the body. After looking at 34 studies in 16 countries, researchers at Yale University found that the countries with the highest rates of osteoporosis-including the US, Sweden, and Finland-were those in which people consumed the most meat, milk, nad other animal foods. Another study showed that though 40 million american women have osteoporosis only 250,000 African women have bone disease. In fact, the forty tribes in Kenya and Tanzania, only one-the Massai-has members suffering from osteoporosis. The Massai, as it happens, is a cattle-owning, milk drinking tribe.
Dairy products have been linked to a host of other problems tooo, including acne, anemia, anxiety, arthritis, attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, fibromyalgia, headaches, heartburn, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, joint pain, osteoporosis, poor immune function, allergies, ear infections, colic, obesity, heart disease, autism, Crohn's disease, breast and prostate cancers, and ovarian cancer.
Two authors clearly state "DAIRY PRODUCTS ARE DISEASE-PRODUCING. They're harmful. They CAUSE suffering. They're the perfect thing to eat if you want to be sick and have a diseased body. The dietians and nutritionists who are mouthpieces and cheerleaders for the dairy industry, telling you that dairy products are good food, should hide their heads in shame-not only for leading the innocent to believe that dairy products are actually valuble, but for failing to keep abreast of the feild about which they are SUPPOSED to know something."
yes, it is common knowledge in the medical feild that dairy products are bad for you. :/
So to answer your question, yes it does.
Milk is actually good and bad for your body.
Some certain kinds of milk, contain LOTS of sugars which of course is not good for your body.
but milk is one of my main ways to get calcium. So as long as im strong and have strong bones..im alright with putting sugars into my body :]

no, its not healthy to drink cows breastmilk thats intended to grow a baby calf into a full grown cow.

You ask this question on a vegen section and expect an honest answer? Good luck with that.

See my response to this silly question. Vegans are biased against milk. Me? I can take it or leave it.
Yes.
since you're asking this in the vegan/vegetarian section all your going to get is that it is unhealthy and will kill you or some answer like that, lol. I personally think it's healthy if you drink lowfat/nonfat or organic. Also, milk doesn't decrease calcium, it increases it. That's why it has 30% calcium in 8oz. It's healthy in moderation in my opinion. Others think different. Drink it or don't drink it, it's all your choice. :)
