New vegetarian question for females?!

Question: I stopped eating meat about three months ago and I was wondering did your period change at all? Did it become lighter? Heavier? I'm just curious because mine is extremely light this time.

Yes, it became a little lighter and lasted fewer days. This has been happening for several years, and I am still extremely healthy.
More importantly, the horrible cramps I used to get almost completely went away after I stopped eating meat.

it's funny you'd mention that. i just had this discussion, sometimes it's just the diet change, it should go back to normal after a while it just has to adjust.

I would assume if you consume less iron, then less blood would be produced, hence lighter periods

I didn't notice a difference, but I was on the pill when I went veg, so it was pretty controlled anyway.

umm..to be honest i never noticed, i was on birth control to help make my period lighter...so it it lighter...Just make sure to take some vitamins, esp during your menstrual cycle

I can't speak from personal experience, but I know a woman whose period stopped completely for four years when she went vegan.

You're not getting enough iron. Do you take a multivitamin?

my period never changed. its always very heavy so im not a good example

Yeah, when I first became vegetarian my periods did seem to become lighter and not last for very long at all. I started taking vitamins like iron and atleast I think its helping.
