What are some non-meat products that vegetarians shouldn't eat?!

Some non-veg things would be gelatin, glycerine, lard, tallow, chicken/beef/pork fat, rennet in certain types of cheeses. There are quite a few.

It could mean much more than just not eating meat. Milk, butter, and things like fur and leather come from animals too.
While milk and milk products don't directly harm animals, depending on personal views(cows milk is for the calf not humans), for leather and fur animals are killed.

There are a lot of other things to avoid like dried butterflies meant for display.

I had an old girlfriend that wouldn't eat starburst candy because they had whey in them.

Saying "the whole basis of vegetarianism is that you don't eat any product that is obtained by causing harm to an animal" is not entirely accurate. That is the basis of veganism. Hope that clears things up for you. :)

I heard that Tofu contains estrogen and if eaten excessively can alter the balance of hormones in the body.
