Vegetarians, Vegans and Animal Rights people activists. How do you feel about....?!

Question: buying things such as chanel singlasses and other desgners. I mean as long as your not buying actual leather products.

My Opinion:
I think it's fine. Your not buying real leather or fur. I don't see anything wrong with it. I feel it is just my lifestyle that I chose. Yes, I eat at McDonalds I eat breakfast there and have milkshakes from there and have the fruit and walnut salad.

How do you feel?

I refuse to buy from designers that refuse to drop Fur products. Leather is a by-product, and though I do not wear leather the entire cow was used whereas the bodies of the fur bearing animals used for the fur industry's bodies are not used in any useful way.

Many designers are dropping fur from thier lines like Ralph Lauren. You should buy from compassionate companies that dont use animal cruety in thier products like Burrberry does.

Sunglasses are one thing I guess, but I'd never drink a milkshake from McDonalds because I don't drink milk as a vegetarian. And McDonalds fries have beef flavoring in them--not making it up, I read it in a book.

I think it's near impossible to buy things exclusively from companies that don't exploit/harm animals in any way. However I do my best not to consume much more than I really need and try to consume in a manner that is as friendly as possible to animals and the planet. For example, I'm vegan, rarely eat at restaurants and never go to fast food restaurants, buy most of my clothes and other household things second hand where possible, belong to a freecylce community, etc.

I refuse to buy anything designer or with a recognizable label. For me, it has nothing to do with being vegan and everything to do with not wasting my money of overpriced cr@p.

I do not like to buy designer clothes - I would rather save my money for my education expenses. And new business ventures.

Fast food - I am not into spending money on unhealthy crap.

hi, i don't purchase anything from unethical companies, you are still contributing to their profits! which in turn they might invest in some more fur, live burgers(thats what mcdonalds see cows as! ) or leather! x

the whole sunglasses thing is fine
not many stores offer no leather or fur goods

and McDonalds has so many ingredients in it that nearly nothing is vegetarian
I don't eat there because of that reason
some sort of broth or flavoring is added to most food there

Personally, I look at it this way -
not even taking into account the v & v & ar reasons on this occasion -
I don't wear big-name clothing and accessories, no matter what their mistreatment of animals, their underpaid labourers in Third World countries, their negative impact on the environment or whatever.

The main reason is simply because the items are massively overpriced. There's no getting around that.

The secondary reason is because I am NOT going to be a walking billboard for Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, FCUK, Adidas, Reebok, Coca Cola, Ford, Rayban, Chanel, or any other large company for that matter ... UNLESS ... THEY ... PAY ... ME ... TO ... WEAR ... THEIR ... LOGOS!

Why pay THEM for the "privilege" of advertising their clothes and accessories? THEY should be paying US! Wake up, people! Don't buy them! If you already have them, rip the logos off (or cover them up, if you can't rip them off)! Send a clear message to them.

I do not buy new clothes very often and never buy designer clothes. I find hard to pay more that 10 dollars for a pair of pants. Plus when you buy used clothes you are recycling, reusing and reducing. I do not eat anything from fast foods places, minus the rare subway visit. But that is just me. It's about doing the best you can, not being better than someone else.
