Vegans, supposing there was a stray orphaned very young cat or dog near your home?!
there are no right or wrong answers.
Answers: let's say the humane society is not an option. would you buy dairy and meat products to feed it, or would you let it fend for itself?

hi, this is what i done about 6 months ago, a cat just skin and bone, infested with fleas and ticks, couldn't even eat properly.
his fur was so matted he had to be shaved, a real sorry mess!
i am a vegan because i hate animal abuse/cruelty, so i had a dilemma.
i decided that as my life is about caring for animals i would take him in, so what do i feed him???
i have found a really good cat food called Burns, it is holistic and the company only uses free range chickens.so that's what he has, its chicken and brown rice!
i sometimes think i might be hypocritical but cats are not veggies or vegans so i think i do my best which is the only thing anyone can do!
he is a different cat now, long haired, bright eyed and bushy tailed, and he is so full of life he nearly bounces around!
dairy products are not a problem as cats are not meant to have dairy!
aw bless you Hala, that is so kind of you, thank you so much that means alot to me! :) x
there are vegetarian options of feeding them .
If you care about the cat enough then yes. Not everyone and everything wants or can enjoy a diet as ours. Cats survive mainly on meats. You can just feed it water if it isn't to young if your not trying to go with the dairy product route. good luck and thanks for caring for Gods little creatures....

Who buys dairy products just for cats and dogs? Anyways I am not a vegan yet but I always take in stray animals since I was a kid and do all I can for them. I feed my animal friends non/veg food because they are carnivors and I cannot afford the vegetarian kind right now.
well im not vegan im vegatarian but id buy the meat or dairy to help save the cat its my choice not to eat it . but not the cats just like i cook my family meat its not there fault im a vegatarian or my sons thats there choice everybody has 1 i cant stand those that make their children vegatarian or vegans they should let them make there own choices when there old enough to understand it all :0) good question ! takecare x
I would buy meat products to feed it but not dairy, since dogs and cats are lactose intolerant.
But then again, I follow a vegan diet for health issues, not political, social or moral issues.
Not sure what this has to do with vegetarian & vegan cooking though.
Another troll with time on their hands perhaps.
.
I'm a vegetarian by choice. My husband isnt, my step daughter isn't, our 2 dogs arent and our 3 cats arent. I have been for many years and that is my choice. I'm tired of all those holier than thou veggies out there who go to such extremes that they give the rest of us a bad name. Come on people, what you chose for yourself isnt always what everyone else wants. Its our choice.
And yes, I would do what I needed to to save the cat because I love all animals. :)
First off, neither dogs nor cats would benefit from dairy beyond wening age. (Although kittens will naturally wean from their mothers at 8 weeks old, if they are orphaned they can start solids from 4 weeks. Same age for puppies.)
Second, Dogs can be fed a vegetarian diet.
As for cats, I believe that human beings have a responsibility to the domesticated animals around us, whether or not we agree with their domestication. It should be just as abhorrent to a vegan to let the animal starve as it is to eat meat. The best answer is to responsibly source the meat products for a cat.
I don't have a cat but being vegan is a decision I made for my self. I don't think it's right to enforce in upon animals who are naturally omnivorous or carnivorous. I think that it's a great idea, feeding your cat free range chicken.... it's the best thing to do. Glad to hear your cat is doing so well, fluffycat. =0)
I am vegetarian not a vegan but my first choice would be to take it to the nearest vet. To feed it immediately without proper assessment of its health can be very dangerous for the animal.,
I am not a Vegan 1st of all, but if I did come across a stray animal I would feed it a dry dog food with meat in it, but only because the vegetarian dog food brands are way too expensive for me. But if I did have the money I would get the veggie dog food instead.
I would give it wat I have and I have no meat products. I wouldnt buy human-food meat products, but I would buy dog or cat food (which, yes, is meat) but i wouldnt feel so bad. I rather take care of the animal that is alive!
I am trying to go veg again, but my cats eat their regular cat food. They are carnivores. They would go blind without the taurine in meat.
yes. Cats/dogs do not have a concience regarding food.
Many vegans live with cats. I feed mine a meat diet because SHE'S A CAT!!! I can do just fine without meat, but she cannot. I look for holistic foods and give those to her.
And I won't feed her dairy because she's a cat, not a calf, and at her age--she's almost 17--she should have been weaned years ago. I even reject prepared foods that have milk in them because nobody should drink cows' milk except for calves.
I live in a rural area near a small city. Many people bring their unwanted animals down my road and dump them. I give the animals a day or two to move on then I shoot them. Tough, but I will not feed them or pay to put them down.
Edit
I can see many do not approve. I wonder if they would approve of a pack of wild dogs living in their woods behind their house. I wonder if they would approve of the cats killing all the small animals and birds in their area. I do not have the money to care for more animals and all local animal services cannot or will not help. PETA rep hung up on me.
