What is so bad about meat?!

Question: I do not mean this in an offensive way I really want to know what you guys have against people eating meat.

Answers: I do not mean this in an offensive way I really want to know what you guys have against people eating meat.

I don't have anything against people who eat meat, nor do I have anything against their choice to do so.

I DO however, have something against ME ingesting meat and animal by-products. The factory farms and dairy industry treat the animals horribly. They live in their own waste, disease spreads rampant, the animals are crammed into spaces so small they can hardly turn around...and many never see fresh air and sunlight. They are all tortured during the slaughtering process - which is actually extremely dangerous for the workers and the facilities are highly unsanitary.
The animals are pumped with artificial hormones (to grow faster, to keep producing milk) as well as antibiotics - both are absorbed by the humans who eat the meat.
Personally, I cannot allow my hard-earned money to go to such an industry. The truth is, the meat production and dairy industries are two of the least-regulated food producing sectors in the nation. The Federal government is very lax on inspections and enforcing standards. It's ridiculous.
I think you should read Eric Schlosser's "Fast Food Nation" - you don't have to read the whole thing unless you want - but there are about 3-4 chapters strictly about the meat industry. It's REALLY eye-opening and it's what lead me to give up meat.

Go to meat.org and you'll change your mind...plus there are a TON of hormones in the meat/eggs/dairy you eat. Just do a little research and you'll know exactly why.

The conditions most animals are raised in are reprehensible.

Personally? I don't like having to make some animal go through the suffering of dying in a mass and unnatrual way, just so my stomach feel's fuller and my taste buds are happy.

If there was no other way I could get the right amount of nutrients, then I would eat it. But I know I don't *have* to eat it, because there are plenty of other alternatives around. I don't want to be part of the cause of something else suffering, because they feel too!

i have nothing against people eating me, my self i don't eat meet, but most people out there are against killing of animals so that is one reason, and also health wise as well, i just am against it health wise, heart attacks, and cholesterol so you that's my word.

I was a vegetarian a while ago. I stopped eating meat and supporting the awful way the butcherers would treat chickens/cows/deer/other meat. I recently started eating meat but have only bought it from local sources which I know treat them respectfully.

These are the objections I have. - the short version

My health - eating animals, that had so much hormones and chemicals, is not healthy for me
My karma - if I want love and kindness, I need to give love and kindness, there is nothing kind about killing an animal when I have so many other choices of food
Starving people - grains should go to feed the millions of starving people in this world not the animals
My earth - factory farming is the number one reason for global warming. - there is also water pollution, air pollution, soil damage.

I can go more into the facts, - let me know - email!

nothing with lean organic free range meats..they are very healthy...contain no hormones or anti biotics so these meats are perfectly fine

Aren't you moved by these shocking images of helpless creatures suffering?

Read Fast Food Nation and you will never eat meat again!

read the book Skinny B****, that'll do it. the part about the slaughterhouses almost made me vomit. I will never touch meat again.

What's bad about eating meat is that they don't have a voice but we are their voice for them!
