They're not vegetarian. Fish are meat just like other animals. They don't have feelings, however, because their brains aren't developed for that, and they don't have the nervous system to feel pain. They only have reflex reactions. They can sense predators because they have something special on their bodies that detect changes in water current. It has nothing to do with them being able to feel anything. That's why fish are gutted alive. Any fisherman could tell you that. But still, it's stupid that they call themselves anything. You are not no pescitarian if you eat fish. To me, that's just a made up term to make themselves seem mightier than omnivores.

Pretty much summed up everything. Report It

  • They are pescetarians. who eat fish, and sometimes chicken. I don't know (I'm a vegetarian) maybe they just don't want to eat mammals?

they think that since fish swim free it has less cruelty.. however they fail to realize that more and more fish is being produced in factory where they raise the fish without letting them ever see the ocean/lake..

there not vegetarian.. fish are animals.. maybe for some religious issue??

Vegetarians do not eat fish, and anyone who eats fish and calls himself/herself a vegetarian is deluded.

As for the "if we weren't supposed to eat meat" issue, leave it alone. We've been asked that 40 million times. We don't have teeth or fangs that can tear flesh, nor fangs that can rip flesh, nor the powerful stomach acid of carnivores that can digest the meat. We have long digestive tracts, a feature of herbivores (carnivores have short digestive tracts, the better to get the toxins out of their bodies). Just try tearing into a deer with your bare teeth and hands and tell me how far you get.

I think it is because, Vegans are the only people who really believe in not eating anything from an animal. They wont eat any dairy products like milk or eggs and they definitley wont eat fish. However, vegetarians just don eat meat. I understand where you are coming from, but i guess some people believe certain things are wrong, just as others believe they are not.

A vegetarian does NOT eat fish!!

    FISH= FLESH OF AN ANIMAL!

Its sooo annoying when people claim fish is veggie.

I am a vegetarian, my parents are and they eat fish
the reasoning in my family that it feels more natural than the tortured chickens and cows that are treated really badly

personally because fish arent bred to be eaten or kept in inhumane cages etc before being eaten

    *yawn*

nutritional purposes. i have been a vegetarian for 4 years now, and the only reason i turned vegetarian was because i just dont like the taste of meat, not because of the meat industry (although i love animals, this didn't stop me from eating them). for about 6 months after i stopped eating all meat, i kept eating fish (however i didnt consider myself a vegetarian at that point) because, while i didn't enjoy the taste of fish, its where i got my essential protein. When you cut out meat you cut out you main source of protein. therefore many vegetarians who dont eat meat because they just dont like the taste still eat fish to keep up their protein levels. while there are other ways to find protein, fish is by far the easiest way and its hard to get enough without them. i know because every year when i go to my doctor for a yearly check up, he always tries to convince me to add fish back into my vegetarian diet so i can get a good source of protein. i personally dont consider people who eat fish vegetarians (as i didnt consider myself a vegetarian when i still ate fish) but its probably an easier way to refer to your dietary restrictions.

different people have different reasons for being vegetarian. Some people do not eat meat because of the hormones and other junk that they put in meat these days, some people do not eat things that have eyes, some people only eat fresh wild game, and some people will not eat anything with feet or legs. There are a lot of other reasons that people do not choose to eat different foods. Does that help any?

Well for most it is an ethical reason of why they do not eat meat. Some see fish as not having a developed nerve system to feel pain like other animals. However, being a flex vegan myself I like to treat myself to a nice fish taco from time to time!

I don't know why. It's soooooo stupid. Why bother doing anything if you are still going to eat some animals. I don't believe that you can eat aquatic animals and say that your vegetarian. It's like an oxymoron.

No vegetarians eat fish. Some people eat fish and *call themselves vegetarian* but that's a totally different thing.

You must have some pretty impressive canines if they truly resemble those of a carnivore. Mine pale in comparison to a lion's, for example, but they do come in really handy for things like piercing the skins of fruits.

Well, I'm a vaginatarian, so I eat fish too.

    because theyre not vegan

fish really isnt meat. so thats y some people that are vegiterians eat it i think.
