My friends say I'm far too skinny but when I look in the mirror I just see a fat belly. I'm now really shy at parties and I'm becoming really withdrawn. Can you cheer me up?

No your not fat your a healthy weight. I have my insecure moments too. I'm sure everyone does. But you have to try and push those negative thoughts out of your head when they pop in there. You need to look in the mirror and see what a nice kind and lovely person you really are. Cheer up Scottie. Your a great guy and I'm sure you look great too. ;0)

if your bmi is 19.5 or 20.8... and you are 18 and 5'9".... i think your name says it all......

A bmi of 18.5 - 24.9 is considered healthy. Your bmi of 20.8 is in the healthy range. I myself think bmi is a bunch of bull as it does not look at body composition, cardio vascular health, waist size, etc.
Not fat, very slim, not fat, very slim, not fat, not fat, not fat - you have a lower than average bmi!
If your belly is worrying you it is more likely to do with posture than weight. Stand tall and proud and do some yoga / pilates to strengthen your spine and flatten your belly.
Not only is your BMI in a healthy range, but you have to keep in mind that your BMI is not the best measure of your fitness, especially if you're tall (which it seems like you are) or very muscular. BMI doensn't take into account your bone mass (because tall people have more bone mass) or excessive muscle mass, so it might say that (for example) a professional wrestler is obese, when really he just is very muscular. What is better is a body fat test, but I don't think that's neccesary. I think you're perfectly health and definitely not fat.
Take heart in the fact that what some see as fat, some see as deliciously cute. You are only as good as you feel.
My view is you aren't fat unless your body takes up more than one seat on a bus/train/plane. If you pay attention to BMI (and I really don't), 20.8 is at the low end of normal. If you're worried about your belly, maybe you could do some abdominal exercises.
And when you're at parties, think of making friends, not girlfriends.

anyway i am a veg since birth... i mean ive never eaten meat and im 14 now
im not fat, my friends say im skinny.. but i do have a belly full of fats cause i ate too much sweets in the past months..
fats wont go away unless you go to a gym or do some fitness at home or anything thats work...
oh and youre pretty much the only one who cares about/sees your belly :)
Maybe I'm stupid, and I'm sure that a lot of people will say that I am, but I have no idea what BMI is.
