Can animals live happy lives on a factory farm?!
I could not believe the reply I read that was written by Xai. She said, "And it is certainly not wrong to eat/drink animal by products, again as long as those products are garnered in a way that doesn't cause distress to the animal."
Can you believe she would even say such a thing? She said it is okay to kill as long as it doesn't cause distress to the animal???? You have got to be kidding me???? Distress to an animal!!!!! Of course it is distressing, it is being killed!!!
How would you feel if someone raised you on a factory farm in atrocious conditions and then killed you? News Flash Xia! You would feel distressed! That is what being killed does to a person, it distresses them!!!
Answers: Folks, I do not even have words to describe how upset I am about reading a reply from another user here on Yahoo! Answers

Animals feel pain... Lots of pain!!!!!!!! Would anyone here be shocked and appalled if a person was tortured then killed to feed someone? They say they don't like to cause them pain because it makes the meat tough.. what kind of reason is that?!
I agree with you. No fair! - yes, you go and protest right now, and bring the meat industry down. Down I say! Down!
I don't think that animals can live happy lives on a factory farm, but I do know personally quite a few farmers who have small farms with a few animals. These animals are happy and beloved and give eggs and goat milk in non-distressing ways.
I plan to die in a non-distressing way, myself. Even if I were being killed, I hope I could find peace in my heart, and send compassion to my murderer. That's just me, though.
No. They are living in fear and unhappiness everyday until they die. I hope everyone can be on a vegetarian diet so there will be no need for breeding to kill.
Certainly not. I try to explain the atrocities of factory farms to people, and they don't understand. People are ignorant.
Isn't it against the rules to talk badly about another user? when I posed a question talking about you, I got reported so ... sorry, I'm now reporting you!
I just emailed crapydiem and said basically that the avoidance of suffering indicates an animal, or plants desire for happiness. An animal given a choice will not voluntarily live in the factory farm conditions. An animal that cannot do what evolution bred it to do will be un-happy.
you are very simply confused and are a victim of anthropomorphism.
Anthropomorphic is a word meaning "like a human." It is used to describe a well-known concept called anthropomorphism, or ascribing human characteristics to a non-human being or object. Typically, this is used in reference to deities, which are usually given the form of humans. However, the word can apply to any non-human thing, including animals, plants, and inanimate objects.
How does a cow, sheep, pig, clearly demonstrate that it's HAPPY?
