Vegitarians or vegans: do you ever crave meat or regret you decision?!
Answers: as a vegitarian or vegan, do you ever just crave a piece of chicken, meat, fish, or for vegans eggs, milk etc? although you CAN always go back, do you ever regret your decision to become a vegitarian or vegan?
I have craved it, but I've never regretted my decision to be a vegetarian.
Usually it's the flavor of the toppings or seasonings that I crave, not the meat itself.
Never. After seeing the things I've seen, I actually get nauseous whenever I think about meat.
Ugh, no, when I think about that stuff I feel somewhat sick.
I sometimes get the craving for a cheeseburger. I never crave the meat alone or the cheese alone but something about the combination. However, when I see a cheeseburger in a commercial on TV, I cringe. And I definitely would never buy one, my cravings are faint ones at best and they go away when I put other food in my body.
I have never regretted my decision to become a vegan warrior!
technically i'm not a vegetarian or vegan. but, i haven't had beef, pork, or seafood for 8 years. nah, i don't crave a hamburger or anything. but, i will admit sometimes it smells good but NEVER good enough that i want to eat it. i don't regret quiting. but, i do wish that i would have quit chicken and turkey at the time too.
hi, never would go back, dont have cravings, and my only regret is that i didnt do it sooner! :)
I've never eaten meat, so I don't have any cravings for it.
I must add that it 's smell disgusts me.
I do not crave meat, and the smell of pork and beef makes me gag, for real. As for fish, well it smells like...... fish.
When I first started, the thing that made me was seeing a video about chickens, etc, in slaughter houses, that I "ran into". None of my family approved, and my friends thought that it was unhealthy, and just plain weird. Then, I didn't want to know what I already knew, and I wanted to be a 'normal' kid again. Right now, after 4 months, I don't think I could ever turn back to meat, and the thought of eating makes me sick!
Usually no. But there are sometimes when I'd really like a little piece of steak. Especially when there's nothing else around to eat.
I have never regretted my decision. I've been a proud vegetarian for almost 11 years :o)
I don't regret my decision in any way shape or form. In fact, when I go out to eat or go over to my parents' house or go to the grocery store and see meat in its various forms, those sights simply reinforce that I've done the right thing in making that choice for my lifestyle. Like other posters have said, just the sight or smell of raw meat makes me sick to my stomach. Same goes for every time I hear about a meat recall or studies linking animal food to certain diseases and conditions.
As far as cravings are concerned, I used to crave gyros and chicken wings (w/ bleu cheese on the side, of course!), but I don't crave anymore. It was hard in the beginning, but since I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen, I have found SO many wonderful and tasty foods that I would have never tried had I not started following a vegan diet. (and these foods go far beyond fake/imitation meats). I can confidently say that my diet is more varied and a LOT more healthier now than when I ate meat.
Good question! (star for you)
I'm vegan and never really have cravings for anything and i would never go back drinking milk or eating cheese or meat. i feel sick just thinking about meat, milk etc.i don't regret my decision it just seems a better way of living from my point of view not causing any cruelty or suffering
I don't know about 'crave'...but sometimes I think a nice butterfly pork chop would 'taste great right about now'...but when I think of 'at what expense'...the thought goes away.
Like you said, we CAN always go back, so why wouldn't we if we regretted it?
Meat doesn't look like food to me any longer.
Absolutely no regrets!! I've not had many cravings for meat, mine have been for cheese mostly. I found that much harder to give up.
This past Thanksgiving was my first as a veg*n and I did crave meat during that time, no I didn't give in. I had dinner at my mom's since the rest of the family still eats meat and I brought my own food. It had been 4 months since I had taken my last bite of meat or smelled it cooking and when I smelled that turkey cooking it was so gross to me! I didn't tell anyone that, of course, but it was terrible. The previous year the smell of turkey cooking was really appetizing to me and now it's just icky.
I agree with the poster above me, meat doesn't look like food to me any longer.
Occasionally I wish I could eat non-vegetarian food items, like certain candies that have gelatin in them. I never want meat, though. I believe that the pleasure I get from eating animals can never outweigh their suffering, so, no, I don't regret my choice. I'm very happy as a vegetarian, and I don't see any reason why I'd want to go back.
I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but I'd be willing to bet that most of them do crave meat at times.
I'd have to say no. I'm very happy with my decision and I can't say that I've had any cravings for meat or fish since I became fully committed. At first it was a little hard, but your body just tends to get used to it as time passes.
But it differs for everyone, of course.
I never regret it. Ive been a vegetarian for two years now (im only 15) and Im really glad of my decision. I never ate much meat since the age of 9 I didnt really think about the process of it much until I understood it more. I hate all the programs on tv like Jamie olivers when he killed that poor chicken. It made me almost sick. I feel really strong about it and just thinking about it almost makes me cry. I cant stand seeing animals/humans/even insects in pain so I try and do as much as I can to help them. I never really have a craving for meat ,im too pround of myself and how Im helping the animals to give in to that. Although i did used do get a craving for tuna fish but i know that its too cruel so I never give in.
Early on I did. But in my third year of vegetarianism flesh stopped looking like food. Now all I see is dead parts of animals. I look at a billboard with a burger ad and I see a cow staring at the plate from the distance. Your mind starts to change once it has become re- acculturated. You lose the sense of dis-connect from the animals life and your own.
Nope, never.
i occaisionally wish i could eat some old favorites (sausage+onion pizza, corned beef on st patrick's day) but i resist. when actually faced with meat/fish on my plate, i chicken out.
i was eating at a thai restaurant and had switched plates with my mother, whose dish had some form of squid on it. whenever i saw a piece mixed in with the vegetables, i had to bring my face in close to identify it (bad eyes+bad light) and nearly gagged each time i saw that ugly piece of tentacle practically staring back at me.
EDIT: that 'chicken out' oun was completely unintended :)
No. I'm lac- to ovo and I don't miss meat. There's just not that much difference.
no, but i crave tofu and beans a lot more now. going vegan has exposed me to a ton of foods that i never would have ate before. i've found that these foods are much more desirable than meat, and it's not often that a meal leaves me unsatisfied
