In a perfect vegan world, will there no longer be domestic animals on farms?!
Answers: Will farmers no longer raise chickens, cows, pigs, etc.? It seems to me those creatures will become extinct in the perfect vegan world.
You're right, they would. Farmers would not raise them for fun - since they cost money to feed. They'd eventually die off.
what would be so perfect about a vegan world? please feel free to respond to my e-mail...ralphy40@yahoo.com
Eating meat is a primal instinct in humans and it can't be stopped. Did you see that show Kid Nation where they put a bunch of kids in a town alone. They were given enough food but within a week they were craving fresh meat and started slaughtering animals.
I don't think they would become extinct. Pigs and chickens both can be found living in the wild. Cows live in the wild too in parts of Africa and Asia. Farmers could sell their animals as pets or train them to forage and drop them off on the prairies.
As pets only
Why would they become extinct? These animals existed and thrived in the wild lone before humans enslaved and domesticated them.
A bovine will never forget how to eat grass, drink water, nurture its young. Chickens will never forget how to scratch, eat grains and bugs, and take dust baths. A pig will never forget how to cool itself in the mud.
If they were left to their own devices, certainly the population of domesticated farm animals would teeter down. That said, there's nothing un-vegan about providing a sanctuary for liberated animals to live their lives free of exploitation.
yep, they'll all die off because they have been bred for their purpose and they cannot survive in the wild. But the coyotes and wolves would have a feast for awhile. Such is the way of the world.
a perfect vegan world sounds like hell. I agree that many slaughtering practices are inhumane, but meat is an integral part of a healthy diet. mmm.....moo = tasty.
firematt - fresh meat, it that not an oxymoron? Most meats come form animals that have been killed a while ago. Plus, they use chemicals to make the meat look more red and "fresh".
the animals would just live their own lives, like they did before we confined them and abused them. They just not be , used for food. as we would eat great healthy foods - not killed animals - cows and pigs.
No but Im a vegetarian and I believe farmers could still raise these animals for eggs, milk, manure etc but NOT for meat. They'd have much more room to roam around and they'd be controlled breeding.
In a perfect vegan world there would be no farms, no pets, no service animals or research animals. Not sure where that would leave us, but I am sure the vegans have a plan.
meat got your brain to the level it is now...if we didnt eat meat we would be just as intelligent as the cows we eat......whats so perfect about that??????
In a perfect vegan world, only the vegans point out the imperfections of others
only the vegans SUGGEST what OTHERS should do..
I never hear them say
"I will start a sanctuary for those animals..."
NO< they say .....there should be (others) one.."Farmers will...."
HAHA
It's about convenience.
Eventually some in the wild would become extinct...look at what happens to some bird species that have the ability to MOVE almost anywhere in a short amount of time...
even fierce predators have become extinct
"Survival of the fittest, and so far NONE has exceeded HUMANS"
A perfect Vegan world would be run by crack pots! haha
Why wouldn't we want them to become extinct...at least in the form those animals take now? Chickens, turkeys, pigs and cows are bred to be food. They can't even reproduce a lot of the time. If the domestic animals that humans eat are not artificially inseminated anymore, then they're damn sure not gonna survive. Sorry, but that's the way it is...
this is just my view as a vegan, in an ideal vegan world there would be animals, but there wouldn't be any animal abuse/cruelty and suffering.
there obviously wouldn't be as many of these animals chickens/pigs/cows, but they are able to be kept as pets and live a natural life(obviously on small holdings and like).
i have friends who have chickens as pets(i.e they don't eat them) and also a friend also has a few cows as pets on her small holding, and pigs can make great pets, it is said they have the same intelligence level as dogs!
its the intense farming that causes alot of problems!
I would not want to live in a perfect vegan world if it is represented by the people who post here. The amount of ignorance and misinformation that is spread here just blows my mind.
Yes. There would be no domesticated animals, anywhere.
Top Cat---using your thought process, there's no such thing as fresh produce either.
Wow, good job FIREMATT! Your one complex human being! What a fu**ing retard, eating meat is NOT a primal instinct, back in the Pagan years of human civilization, EVERYONE was a vegetarian, then biblical stories came along and "God" allowed people to eat meat.
