Try getting a hold of Icelandic Cod, Haddock, Halibut, Sea Bream(or Striped Sea Bass), or Maui Maui. If these fish are properly handled they will not smell fishy and even vegans will find them on the bland side and quite agreeable.
On the other hand, Salmon, Sword Fish, Sole, Snapper, Rock Cod, Grouper, Tuna and some of the other more popular fish may be a bit too fishy for your taste. Bufallo, Cat Fish and some of the others are very strong indeed. Stay away.
Personally I like squid, crab, and scallops, muscles(spelling?0, and clams. They can be quite strong!

no it totally doesnt trust me its MUCH milder.

Fish is actually delicious and the smell is not the way it would taste.

Get a new doctor. What kind of moron doc would advise his patient to eat something that she doesn't want to eat?

Why fish? For omega 3 fatty acids? Take some flax oil.

There are so many kinds of fish, and a lot of ways of cooking it. And they run the spectrum from mild flavored to very strong. I recommend you just try various restaurants..... enlist friends and family. They could buy the fish dish and you can have a try. But really, fish is really yum-o.

you won't die.
did he tell you other options other than fish?
there are many other options than eating fish to get your protein and vitamins
just google it and there should be tons of info

well, it is good for you, but your doctor is probably wanting you to get the omega 3 fat, which can be found in flax seeds. but if you want to try fish, I would recommend starting with a mild fish like tilapia or sea bass. I love fish, but even I can't eat catfish, it stinks, I can't get close enough to it to get it in my mouth.

Yes it does. It reminds me of all those Sunday mornings waking up after finding someone in a dive honkeytonk on Saturday night.

Why did your doctor tell you to eat fish? Ethically, that's a little insensitive. If there's a real reason for it, there are other (vegan) things that have the same benefits of fish (omega fatty acids, etc...).

Some doctors are still very ignorant of vegetarian diets, especially many older doctors who went through med school before the vast plethora of research about vegetarian diets and supplements.

do you know how many doctors know nothing about nutrition?
The answer is: MOST OF THEM!!!

Why did your doc tell you to eat fish? What are you not getting out of your diet that you could get from fish? There are vegetable alternatives to every answer you can provide to these two questions, its just a matter of (perhaps in your case) being careful about what and how much you eat.
