Vegeterians who feed their animals meat?!
Answers: hey vegans or vegeterains do you have any pets and if you do and they eat meat what do you feed them do you feed them meat but isnt it highly hypocritical to feed them meat and dont give me that nonsense about them being naturallmeat eaters becasue if they are what right do you have anyway to give your pet the meat and give him the upper hand i mean if its a naturallprocess what right do you have to give your cat prepcked cans of whiskas and also what right do you ahve to decide that just becasue that cat belongs to you it suddenly becomes worth hundreds of chickens do you agree with this and if you dont explain why
Yes I am a vegetarian and yes I feed my dog regular dog food. I understand your argument but hey..my life, your life right?
Cats and dogs are carnivores. Humans are omnivores. People have a choice of what they can eat. You are just too damn judgmental. What do you care what vegetarians and vegans do? Are they bothering you?
And, you need to learn to write in complete sentences.
You are assuming (and you know what they say about that) that all vegan/ vegetarians chose that diet/ life style because of cruelty to animals. Maybe they are that way because of all the scary chemicals, pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, and bacteria, found in commercially raised and slaughtered meat. I have no problem eating the deer, or turkey, or rabbit, or squirrel, I have hunted and killed. And I don't have an issue feeding those scraps to my dog or cat, but I wouldn't feed it to my horse. And I don't have an issue with my dog or cat making a catch of their own, so long as they don't play with it. But I will not eat animal products from the grocery store.
That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard! A pet would die if you tried to make it vegetarian! It would not eat! Is your dog or cat vegetarian? I doubt it
uhh your not really clear with your statements
no i dont feel like a hipocrite feeding my animals meat.
these animals, im their wild forms such as lions and wolves DO NOT EAT ANYTHING BUT MEAT. How is that being a hipocrite when Im giving my animals what they need nutrionally?
i have 8 cats who eat "meat". Its not ideal, but they are my responsibility and I will not let them starve, or go blind on a vegan diet. Nor will I crate them off to a shelter.
Im a vegan.
And I could care less how you feel about what I do :)
With that, have a great day!
I don't believe in forcing any animal to eat a diet that is not natural for them. Both dogs and cats evolved as carnivores, and cats require certain nutrients that are available only from animal sources. The feline intestine is adapted for a high fat, high protein diet. Unlike dogs, the cat is unable to synthesize certain essential nutrients from other food components and, therefore, requires these nutrients to be pre-formed in their diet.
I no longer have a pet, but when I did I fed my kitty meat. I wouldn't expect an animal to give up meat, but I was careful about which company I bought the pet food from! Sometimes I bought fresh meat for her.
as a human, i have the mind to reason good vs evil, as well as the abilities/technologies to live my live as a vegetarian and survive healthy (actually healthier than if i ate meat)... whereas a dog is a carnivore and cant live without meat. If i dont feed him meat... he'll die... but if i dont eat meat i'll be fine... i'll be HEALTHIER... i'll be a SMARTER, NICER person who will make this world a better place, and im totally capable of doing that because i am a HUMAN with the ability to REASON... thank god for that... to bad we dont all use our reasoning abilities. ;)
I'm a vegan and I have a cat. I'm learning about vegetarian and vegan pet foods that are available for pets now. There are several brands, including Halo, Evolution, AMI, Vegecat supplements, etc. Google vegan pet food and learn about it.
Is it natural or right to feed an omnivorous dog a vegetarian or vegan diet because the human owner is vegan or vegetarian? Dogs, who are omnivorous, have been known to thrive on this kind of diet. It's really no more unnatural than the dry, cereal like kibble they are fed anyways. Cats are a trickier issue. They are carnivores but can subsist on carefully formulated vegan and vegetarian diets that include the very important nutritional needs of cats, including supplemented taurine, arachidonic acid, etc. It may not be natural food the cat would select but it's no more unnatural than the housecat, a small species of cat, being fed beef, lamb and venison, they wouldn't hunt these animals and many flavors of cat food include these large mammals in the diet.
A human does not have to be a hypocrite if that person chooses not to eat meat and dairy products, therefore contributing to the reducing of animal suffering and cruelty that goes into making these foods, and also gives their pet carefully formulated veg diets.
Cats and dogs systems are different than the human tract. Humans weren't ment to eat meat.. Cats and dogs were ment to eat such! I give my pets a choice and let them choose.. sometimes they do go for carrots with butter melted on them and other times they go for meat. I feel my pets have a right to choose. I chose to be a vegetarian. I have no right to force my pets to become vegetarian! If they choose to eat veggie food good and if they don't so what!
