First of all, congratulations!! I'm very happy for you!
Google ''The Vegetarian Society''. Its a fantastic website! Get lots of information about vegetarianism.
Eat a variety of different foods to stop yourself getting deficient. Try soya milk. It is an excellent source of perfect protein, supplying all of the amino acids your body needs!!
Ignore people who make fun of you. After a week or so of dedication to the veggie diet, you will not miss meat anymore, I promise!! :-)
Best of luck to you, I wish you well!! :-)
honey there was something called "quorn" meat which is fake meat but tastes "similar" to real meat also if u love meat u cant be a vegetarian
i'm a vegetarian...and my parents are christians too...what you should do is eat all sorts of imitation meat. you'll be surprised at how much stuff is out there that is vegetarian that tastes just like the real thing. and since many of the products have a lot of soy in them, they contain a lot of protein, so you still get a healthy source of protein. and on top of that, the vegetarian forms of meat are less fat and better for your health so you are less likely to get clogged arteries or something. eating/drinking 25g a day of soy is very good...
as for your parents being christians, mine always tell me that god created the animals for us to eat. but what i tell them is that god gives us the choice and option to eat them...he isn't going to force us. we aren't going to hell for being vegetarians, and that usually gets them to stop. hope that helped =-)
You don't have to BE a vegetarian - just eat vegetarian as often as you can. I consider myself to be 'vegetarian conscious'. I love meat but I very rarely eat it and when I do I don't feel guilty about it because I know I'm doing my part to make a difference.
As for the religious aspect - most parts of the old testament referred to bread as 'meat'. It wasn't talking about actual meat. Since they had no refrigeration methods they rarely ate meat. Read Deuteronomy yourself and see what it says about diet. Also the first chapter of Genesis says that seeds and plants shall be our food.
i heard ostrich is the new red meat?
try tofu.
or just eat it.......no harm in it
You're probably going to need to eat something that will substitute the protein that meat provides. Nuts and seeds are a good idea.
You should also try things like eggs, legumes, dairy and soy products.
Becoming a vegetarian is big decision, so make sure you know you're going to stick to this lifestyle change.
Not eating meat is a great initiative but it's not for everyone.
Ok so tell your christian parents about what exactly humans are doing to their Gods creatures and ask them if they think that God would be angry about that. And wasnt Adam and Eve vegans? There are a lot of fake meats and the fake chicken ones are really good and taste like chicken.
Eat what you want. There is no Bible verse telling us that we must eat meat. Talk with some nutrition types to work out some sort of diet so you get all the nutrients you need, but vegetarians live long happy lives, and many of them are Christians.
Yours is a very good idea. From the health point of view vegetarian food is far better than nonvegetarian food.
Egg&meat contains a lot of cholesterol and saturated fat which are the cause of atherosclerosis (thicking, hardening of
arteries ) leading to heart attack, stroke, peripheral vascular diseases etc. Moreover excess fat causes obesity.
Vegetarian food has one deficiency.Lack of 1st class protiens. this is available in milk. So vegetarian food supplemented with milk and milk products is a complete food
You can discuss this matter with your parents
show your parents a film called "earthlings" and then ask them which part of it is god's plan. Nowhere in the bible does it say keep animals locked in tiny pens so they can't move which will make them more profitable. It doesn't say inject them with steroids and feed them antibiotics so they grow abnormally big and produce more offspring at earlier ages.
And I don't want to offend you if you are a christian, but I must ask you; if it was God's intention for these animals to be killed so we can eat them, why do they SUFFER? Why do they have the capacity to endure pain, fear and torment? Why did god provide all vertebrates with exactly the same nervous system we have, and we all share many similar hormones for the same functions...which leads to the idea that since hormones are the bases for many emotions, they must also experience many similar emotions?
Why would god create plants, which feel NO pain, but then tell us to eat his animals which do?
There's plenty of meat alternatives that are really tasty like Morningstar products.
As for Christianity, I'm a Christian and a vegetarian.
Read Romans 14. :]
who cares what your parents think,it's your body your desicion, just show them http://www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com/ and maybe they willl see why you want to be a vagetarian and will respect it:)good luck im going through the same thing right now
when i was born my parents were vegetarians and they taught me that meat isnt healthy, but then they started eating meat cause my mom needed to when she was pregnant again... i was six and since i havent eaten meat before i just couldnt so now im the only vegetarian freak in my family... but im healthy so givin up meat isnt bad for your health... your parents should understand you i mean not just because youre eating animals, but because your eating Dead things... i have no idea how meat tastes but im sure icecream is as good as meat so if you really feel like eating something you like try replecing meat with ice-cream O_o.. or anything else you like...
ask your parents to try to give up meat for two weeks and then maybe theyll realise they feel better and i guess theyll spend less money xD idk how much meat costs there but it is kinda expensive where i live.
and todays meat can become really bad because of what they put in it..
or when your parents eat meat try goin out to lunch or something if you just cant help yourself when seein meat
i dont know what else to say hope its gonna be ok
bye
