Hey i am a vegetarian and have been for ages and i was wondering what kind of cheeses don't have animal rennet!

There is no type of cheese that you can safely say has no rennet because many can be made with rennet or without rennet. Some companies attest they do not use rennet because it is more expensive to use, but finer cheese probably would have it. Sometimes it is indicated on the packaging - it might specify that it is calf rennet or it might say it is a vegetarian cheese, with a vegetable-sourced enzyme that was used. You can try writing to specific companies or checking their websites to see if they specify it, but overall it's hard to generalize.
well whole foods is a good place for vegetarian cheese... most organic/health food stores will have cheeses that are labled something like 'doesnt contain animal enzymnes' or something along those lines...
Acidic cheeses such as mozz, ricotta, cottage....but, most companies doe not use animal rennet any longer. The only place you really see this practiced is the smaller farmsteads that adhere to traditional processes. But, that doesn't mean that all farmstead cheese has animal rennet. If you stick with main stream, mass production cheese, you'll be fine. But, if you are still hesitant, check out the vegan cheeses that are almond, tofu, or soy based. Good luck!

In Australia, you just have to read the ingredient listing that says "non-animal rennet" or "bacterial rennet".
