Thinking of becoming vegan?!

Question: I've been vegetarian for 3 years now but whenever I try to turn vegan, I subconsciously consume incorrect foods?

That's almost the same as me except I've been vegetarian 5 1/2 years and vegan for 2 of those years.
I think you should definitely keep trying and you can only succeed. Make sure you're getting enough vitamins and minerals. Maybe invest in a multivitamin to keep you balanced. It could be that your body isn't having enough things to substitute for milk, eggs etc. so thats why you're eating it!

whats the difference? im a vegeterian and all but whats all this vegan stuff?

don't worry about it.

The way I look at it, just be as conscious as you can and don't try to 'turn' vegan. If your choices end up being mostly vegan, that's great and probably as habits change and your knowledge increases, you will find that you are living a vegan lifestyle.

It seem to be a lot of pressure on someone to just 'turn' into a label. It's more important to be conscious of what you are eating and putting on your body.

The best way to do it is to try to cut out one thing each week. You have a higher chance of succeeding this way. For example, the first week, stop eating honey, the next week cut out cheese, then cut out just milk (but not products with milk in them), then cut out pure eggs, then start cutting out products with milk and eggs in them. If you do the change slower, you will have an easier time getting used to being vegan.

I've been a vegitarian my whole life, and I went vegan last week. I'm really happy about it. It's kind of hard though, because cheese was my favorite food and I'd eat it every day, but now I just think of how badly animals in dairy farms are treated, and how theres a lot of nasty stuff like puss in milk. You could try doing it gradually.

I instantly veganized... My eyes were open to the cruelty just a few months ago... However I cannot imagine ever eating meat, dairy or eggs ever again.

Analyze why you want to become vegan. Are you doing it for your healths sake? Is it for the animals that you will save? Is it because its cool right now? Is it for the environment? Is it all three? Two of the three? Only you can say.

The easiest way to stay vegan is for the animals sake. Just go to meat.org and watch the video. You WILL NOT be able to forget what you see. If you have a "craving" after watching this video, you will also question how you could allow yourself to be a cog in the big industrial wheel of cruelty.

If your doing it for your health, it'll be a bit tougher because you have "evidence" around you of people eating whatever they want and they are still walking around. You need to remind yourself that our bodies are very resiliant. We could treat them time and again with disregard and the damage happens slowly over time. The poisons in meat, dairy and eggs are there but they will not kill you overnight.

If your doing it for the environment, remind yourself that you owe it to your future "family" to try and save the planet for them. Cattle production is the number one pollution maker whether we are talking about the water, air or land pollution. If we eat the grain that we produce for animals directly instead of indirectly more people could be feed.

For whatever reason you are considering turning vegan, make it a passionate one. Feel the need to make a difference and you will automatically get the right choices down.
