What did PETA do thats sooooo horrible?!
I never hear of them doing bad things, but I hear others saying they do all these crazy things but they are doing it to help the animals. If I was at a fashion show and the models had on fur I think I would get a little crazy too. What is SOOOOO horrible about them?
Answers: I am a member of PETA 2

I'm a member of peta2.let's get something straight, now.not all members of peta are left winged radicals.yes, peta has made some bad decisions before, but if you weren't involved in the incident, then you should still stand for what you believe in.right now I am trying vegetarianism and ordered activism kits from the organization.nobody will stop me now.I've talked my freinds into joining the group for animal rights.Don't let anyone tell you that what you are doing is wrong.keep up the great work.good luck.

Personally I support PETA but they did do some stuff that wasn't exactly virtuous. It euthanized many dogs that it took in from shelters and two of their members tossed dead kittens in a trash bin instead of disposing of them properly.
They're terrorists.

Anyone who gives you information from petakillsanimals.com is ridiculous first of all.
From another question like this earlier today here's what one great responder, RMVANDIEWEL, had to say about petakillsanimals.com:
"This website is owned by the Center for Consumer Freedom. The CCF is run by the cigarette and restaraunt industry, and they hate PETA and CSPI, along with vegetarians and vegans. Check this out...

PETA does humanely euthenise animals because the animals go insane because they were tortured by their owners. They are unfit to be adopted and there are no doggy mental hospitals. Sometimes euthenasia is the most humane option.
The CCF came up with quotes like this. They are clearly insane...

“And what of the alarming government claim that 61 percent of us are overweight or obese? That number is based on something called the Body Mass Index (BMI). Many are unaware that the U.S. government in 1998 lowered the BMI standard by which someone is considered overweight. As a result, close to 30 million Americans went from a government-approved weight to overweight overnight—without gaining an ounce. The BMI standard also has a serious flaw: Muscle outweighs fat. Using the BMI as a yardstick, you could conclude that half of the NBA needs to lose a few pounds. So do ‘overweight’ actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt, or ‘obese’ Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.”

“Our offensive strategy is to shoot the messenger. Given the activists’ plans to alarm beyond all reason, we’ve got to attack their credibility as spokespersons.”

Peta put themselves in a bad place by their opposition to no-kill shelters. They practice euthanasia on stray animals, which is justifiable from their perspective. However a few years back when their employees were charged for illegally dumping the carcasses (http://www.avma.org/onlnews/javma/dec05/... they chose to respond to criticism by publishing a 4 page
spread in their newsletter (I think it's called Animal Times?) which made no attempt to justify their actions, but instead attacked no-kill shelters and told their members that supporting no-kill shelters was supporting cruelty.
The problem with this is that Peta has a lot of influence over a lot of people who are not able to make their own decisions and rely on Peta for information. These people may have withdrawn support for no-kill shelters when it was Peta that was acting hypocritically by running shelters in the first place. I could go on about why it would be better for Peta to campaign for banning pets in pet shops but that is getting off topic.
Then there is the sexism issue. Peta are constantly under fire from womens groups for allowing stuff like the 'girl on girl tour', http://www.lettuceladies.com/girl_on_gir...
Also a friend of mine who went to the US and interned at Peta was an active member of Peta2. She was highly regarded but when she decided to ask about the euthanasia issue and whether there were alternatives, all her posts were deleted. So here is someone who was prepared to stand up for Peta on this issue, but no longer can as she wasn't even able to open discussion with other members about it. This girl is a committed vegan and still an activist for an Australian group. I don't know what her screen name was, but her name is Lauren so maybe you remember her from a couple of years ago on Peta2.
they are radicals...
thats enough...
What isn't so horrible about them? First off, they kill the animals that they supposedly "save".
Most vegan people try to distance themselves from PeTA because they have no common sense when it comes to relating to others' differences.
They also waste millions of dollars a year on stupid publicity stunts that don't spread any significant facts when organizations such as this http://www.veganoutreach.org struggle to get literature out to all of those that wish become active through positive interaction in their community.

===================
This is the ONE reason NOT to bash PeTA. Everyone loves to whine about the animals that they euthanizes and scream "OMG PETA KILLS ANIMALS. THEY ARE HYPOCRITES"
These people are just trying to run with any little thing that they can think of. EVERY SPCA, Human Society and animal control euthanizes animals. Animals are killed because of people that refuse to spay/neuter and those that do a terrible job of raising their "pets".
PeTa in no way increased the number of animals killed each year and in no way decreases the number of animals that enter loving homes.
You don't even have to go to petakills.com to understand. You could just watch their documentary and know. They care more about animals than human beings. They degrade human beings for their cause, such as nude calendars and strippers. They throw red paint on animal furs--degrading the person wearing it and degrading the animal who died for it--they throw dead fish on people. They show graphic pictures to innocent little children probably five and under. Those children don't need to be worrying about where their food came from! They can think about that when they don't have their parents to think for them! And they humanely euthanize thousands of animals every year because they're too darn lazy to get the funds themselves. They try and pinch funds off Peta members such as you. Most of the animals they euthanize have treatable conditions, but they don't bother paying for it, so they just kill the animal. They also support terriroristic groups like the AFL and the EFL. In fact, Ingrid Newkirk said this in her documentary: "If I had the guts to do it, I would have bombed that research facility as well." Oh, and they throw their euthanized animals out in dumpsters. You don't even have to go to petakills.com so see those photos. Ingrid Newkirk was put in jail for a couple of days because people caught her throwing away a dead dog.
You only hear what the media have to say alot of the time.
Personally i think its better to do something than nothing at all!!!!!
As for the comment that they support the ALF, once again the ALF do some superb work.
Alot of people might not like them but they have saved thousands of animals from a life of torture.
There are rights and wrongs in all organisations, but no one is perfect, PETA may have made a few mistakes but they also do some fantastic work by bringing to the attention of the public the suffering and cruelty in most areas of animal abuse!!
I await my thumbs down, on my last answer of supporting PETA i acquired 13 at last count, so have that to beat this time! :)
I never really knew much about PETA until I watched a documentary on HBO not too long ago with the woman Ingrid whoever on it....well my opinion is that they stand for good things...but they totally go about proving their point the Wrong way! If they weren't so radical and uncaring for humans more people would probably listen to what they have to say. That lady Ingrid is a nut job. And she has basically started a cult movement in the wrong direction. If you want to save animals then you should go about it in a peaceful manner and not attack people and their businesses and products violently and with no moral ethics. I don't support Peta and never will. They are a radical inhumane group that you can categorize as terrorists. So there.
This story is from a good animal rights group about PETA;
http://www.nokillnow.com/PETAIngridNewki...
If you read that story it will surprise you.
Check the stats they have on killing animals. It is quite insightful.
I rescue dogs and will have NOTHING to do with peta.
