Do "bio" vegetables use blood/bones fertilizer?!

Question: Since most normal vegetables are grown using bones/blood containing fertilizer, do vegans eat bio vegetables only? And what type of fertilizer do they use?

I had no idea ! wow !

Vegans would more likely use the oranic foods than the vegetarains. The agricultural field is increasing its use of organic products, since Americans are getting more health concious. Although there is an organic symbol on the container of the food item, we still aren't sure if it really is organic, because we do not know what they are putting into the products.

There are several types of fertilizers:

Natural Organic Fertilizers
Natural organic fertilizers consist of old-fashioned plant or animal waste that has been dried and composted. Most are good choices in fertilizer, but cost may be a factor in this choice, along with the smell these fertilizers leave behind.

Soluble Synthetic Fertilizers
Soluble synthetic fertilizers are produced by a chemical reaction, from organic or inorganic materials. You’ll find some double synthetic fertilizers labeled as “organic” because they’re synthesized from organic compounds

Controlled Release Fertilizers
These fertilizers, also called timed-release or slow-release fertilizers, combine some of the characteristics of both the natural organic and the soluble synthetic fertilizers in a controlled release formula. Some of these fertilizers contain nitrogen as part of a complex compound that breaks down slowly in the soil. Some control release varieties have pellets that, when placed on the lawn, break down and distribute nutrients slowly into the ground. These pellets release when they’re wet.

Complete Fertilizers
These fertilizers are just as they sound. They contain all three of the primary nutrients, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. The ratios of each will be listed on the bag, and the amount of each you need, will depend on the time of year it’s applied. These are often sold in bags that indicate the time of year for use. This ensures proper quantities of each for the time period in which it is being applied.

Fertilizer, Herbicide, and Pesticide Combinations
The last type of fertilizer available combines the fertilizer with other herbicides for control of broadleaf and crabgrass control. Some even combine insecticides and fungicides to control insects and lawn disease.

From my knowledge doing Geography and Biology, organic fertilizers are better in the long run, as they do not cause polution, and they produce better crops. However, most farmers do not like to use organic fertilizers because they take very long to obtain. Organic fertilizers include: compost heaps, manure and urea.

Compost heaps are large piles of dead leaves, dirt and any bio-degradable products that come from plants or animals. They are left in the earth for several days, so that earth warms can burrow through the matter to further break it down. The soil in which it is placed, is rotated several times a month, so that the firtility of the surrounding soil can increase.

Urea and manure from farm animals is used as fertilizers, when cooled. If they come directly from the animal and are placed on the plant roots, the heat can burn the roots and kill the plant. The Urin and manure is left to cool for several days in the earth, and is then dug up and placed on hte roots of the plant. The urea helps to give the plant nitrogen, which is essential for it to manufacture protein.

If by "bio vegetables" you mean genetically moified foods gmo's, then vegetarians and vegans do not eat them. The term GM foods or GMOs (genetically-modified organisms) is most commonly used to refer to crop plants created for human or animal consumption using the latest molecular biology techniques. These plants have been modified in the laboratory to enhance desired traits such as increased resistance to herbicides or improved nutritional content.

I find that an interesting question.
I am lucky enough to have an organic vegetable scheme that i use and i know that the only thing they use on their veg is organic compost made up with vegetation from the farm(vegetable & fruit farm that is!)

no.they eat plain veggies and fruits.no bio products, unless it's all that's served at the grocery store.

It's the other way around. Organic vegetables are usually grown with animal products, while chemical fertilizers are used for conventional produce. Unless, like fluffycat, you find a farm that uses only plant-derived fertilizers for their crops.
