I'm really freaked out right now about PETA...?!
This is the site I found this disturbing information on.
http://www.petakillsanimals.com/
Answers: PETA, a well respected organization, has been reported to have killed over half of their animals that have been put into their care! I've even heard they kill and torture the animals that are given to them for demonstrational use in magazines and websites. Although alot of these animals are in pain and are suffering, why are the others killed? Does PETA really kill their animals? I was going to join their organization and have already ordered some of their stuff, but now i'm looking back on it.

Your biggest mistake was ordering something from them. They now have your contact information and will harass you. I would stay away from them, they will try to run your life.
It took me ages to get off of their list. It's unfortunate, because PeTA has the ability to do so many good things, but their extremism gives all vegetarians, vegans, animal rights activists etc. a bad name.
PeTA has acknowledged that they do euthanize animals, they claim that the animals they euthanize have medical problems. I have read before that they perform euthanasia on animals because they don't believe that we should have them as "pets". Please check out the link below directly from their own website for more information.
i wouldn't trust that website, since the name alone sounds biased and not objective.
Then we need an organization or someone to investigate "p.e.t.a.",and hold those responsible, and make them pay for their crimes!
Wow, with a name like that, you really think that "petakillsanimals.com" is a trustworthy source of information?
Whatever, right on then.
PeTA is a huge waste of money and I don't think that they deserve the millions that they receive each year but EVERY single SPCA, Humane Society and animal control euthanizes animals. Millions are killed every year in the U.S. alone.
No matter what anyone tells you, PeTA does not increase the number of animals killed each year and they in no way reduce the number of animals that go into loving homes.
People that are irresponsible "pet owners" and don't spay or neuter their animals are the ones that kill these animals before they are even born. PeTA performs free spay and neuter surgeries so their is no excuse for any criticism based on euthanasia numbers.
PeTA and veganism or vegetarianism do not go hand-in-hand. There are many other animal rights orgs to choose from. Organizations that aren't wasteful media whores.
The killing of the animals is true. They have to file reports with the state government for their shelters in Virginia. It's well documented.

As for the manipulation for their propaganda, it's conceivable, if not verifiable.
im vegan but i HATE peta! they lie so much! and when they try to save animal they just make them suffer longer!
I do not support peta, but that does not mean I will continue ot eat meat either.
See your own values have to be the judging factor not some company or website.
If believe in stopping cruelty to animals - stop eating them. -
You don't need any company teeling you that simple fact!
Don't work for PETA, I guarantee you that within a year of you working there, you'll be in jail for conspiracy to commiting terrorist acts.
well respected? trust me peta is only respected by its brainwashed memebers. otherwise it's the laughing stock of every independent free thinking person
yes they kill animals, as well as donate money to domestic terrorists
*IF* PETA kills animals, then that is the personification of deceit.
The site is not what I'd call reliable. It paints a very grim and dramatic picture. But the "roving death vans" is a bit much. That's lifted right from the Holocaust.
At the same time I don't doubt that some people in PETA would be willing to kill animals for propaganda purposes. After all, if you can't get a camera onto the kill floor of a meat plant, then just make one yourself right? PETA is a fanatical organization and fanatics can justify any action if they feel it is for a greater good. These are after all the same people that publicly stated that Steve Irwin got what he deserved after a lifetime of harassing animals.
PETA is a political lobby, they are parasites and meddlers. Mainstream media does not like dealing with them because they use every opportunity as a soap box.
it seems like a tragic waste to me. Why not just eat the animal?
because the website you went to is a .com site, i wouldn't trust it. i don't trust anything like that that is on a .com site because anyone could have set it up. I could make a site right now saying that, just a random example, Donald Trump is dirt poor and is actually an impersonator of the real guy and blah blah blah. if the site ends in .gov, .edu, and sometimes .org, then i may read into more.
They do kill the animals. They don't torture them, but they're too darn lazy to get the funds to help animals whose conditions can be treated. So, they just euthanize them. They euthanize thousands of animals every year with easily treatable conditions. They try to pinch money off of peta members, which to me is ridiculous. If they actually cared, they'd get their own darn money!
PETA is Freakin CRAZY!
Instead of worrying about what PETA does you should use your time and money to support local causes. You know exactly what they are doing with your money. You can donate food, toys, collars, litter, etc to your local rescue groups or shelters. There are also local organizations that help farm animals if that is more your thing. You can become involved in many other organizations than PETA. Do a quick search on petfinder.com to find local rescues and use google to find local animal rights groups that help other animals.
This website is owned by the Center for Consumer Freedom. The CCF is run by the cigarette and restaraunt industry, and they hate PETA and CSPI, along with vegetarians and vegans. Check this out...

PETA does humanely euthenise animals because the animals go insane because they were tortured by their owners. They are unfit to be adopted and there are no doggy mental hospitals. Sometimes euthenasia is the most humane option.
The CCF came up with quotes like this. They are clearly insane...

“[By] tightening the noose on the majority of social drinkers, we’ve taken some of the heat off a tiny but deadly minority of real alcohol abusers who drive.”

—Rick Berman’s strategy for tobacco, as stated in Philip Morris memos
“And what of the alarming government claim that 61 percent of us are overweight or obese? That number is based on something called the Body Mass Index (BMI). Many are unaware that the U.S. government in 1998 lowered the BMI standard by which someone is considered overweight. As a result, close to 30 million Americans went from a government-approved weight to overweight overnight—without gaining an ounce. The BMI standard also has a serious flaw: Muscle outweighs fat. Using the BMI as a yardstick, you could conclude that half of the NBA needs to lose a few pounds. So do ‘overweight’ actors George Clooney and Brad Pitt, or ‘obese’ Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.”
—Rick Berman
“Our offensive strategy is to shoot the messenger. Given the activists’ plans to alarm beyond all reason, we’ve got to attack their credibility as spokespersons.”
—Rick Berman

I wouldn't trust the CCF. I'd join PETA.
The website peta kills animals is put out by the CCF. The CCF is a front group for big tobacco, restaurants, meat industry, and alcohol. The Center for Consumer Freedom is a nonprofit corporation run by lobbyist Richard Berman. Berman is known as a spin doctor. He misinforms, alters the truth and down right lies to get his message across.
This is the same man that went against the group, mothers against drunk driving(MADD) and wanted to lower the legal blood alcohol level, his group also opposed federal minimum wage, unions, etc. He goes against groups that are will impact the profits of his financial backers.
In Bermans own words his strategy is to shoot the messenger ... we’ve got to attack their credibility as spokespersons.
Unfortunately pet overpopulation is a big problem, there is simply not enough homes for all of these animals. Dog/Cats are euthenized everyday by shelter all over the country. To be honest there is really no such thing as a no-kill shelter. No-kill shelter turn away numerous animals every day, knowing full well these dogs/cats will end up in kill shelters. No-kill shelter only take in adoptable pets(young, healthy, friendly, etc), and a certain amount, which is why they do not need to euthenize.
Why doesn't the CCF attack and try and discredit the work of these shelters? Simply put, information from organizations like PETA, make people think about what they are eating and cause them to stop supporting the meat industry, which mean money is coming out of the pocket of businesses(the businesses that give money to the CCF).
Unfortunately, many people take the things they read at face value instead of looking into it. Anyone can put up a website, but it is up to the reader to determine for themselves if the facts are true, or distorted to fill an agenda.
There are always two sides to an argument, and usually the truth lies somewhere in between the two sides.
I agree with most of the others, euthanasia is pretty much unavoidable. When you are faced with having lots of animals in your care, many sick or mentally unstable, and a limited number of people adopting (too many people buy from pet stores, supporting puppy mills - google that if you don't know what those are, they are HORRIBLE, adopt from your local shelter and give a needy animal a home), it's impossible to take care of all of them.
I don't know what else they do though, so I don't necessarily support them. I think they do a lot of good things, and a lot of crazy things. I like to think they do more good than harm.
I really, really like that one girls suggestion about helping your local shelter out. They need it, and you know what your money/gifts are used for.
And one person posted this link:
http://www.helpinganimals.com/Factsheet/...
Which I actually thought portrayed PETA in a good light, I thought they explained the problem well. I hope they follow their own advice when they put animals to sleep.
And kudos to the two people who pointed out that petakillsanimals is run by people in the tobacco industry, etc. I didn't know that, and I'm glad they said that. Very good information!!!!!
