Diet problems during Spring Break?!

Question: I became vegetarian and I'm sticking to that. But lately I feel bloated and really tired, all I eat is rice, beans, bread, juice, milk, bananas, and cheese. Everything else either has meat or it tastes nasty. I'm really hungry, but I feel too fat to put things in my mouth [I still do eat though], I'm 5'7 and I weight 135 lbs. I'm a male so I can't be pregnant. I'm in bed the whole day, and I'm too tired to think of school work.

The thing is what can make me loose this bloated feeling, and and have more energy throughout the day? Why am I hungry and bloated at the same time? What can I do to make my mind more active?

Your diet is quite unbalanced, so it's not surprising that you've become sick. Apart from the bananas and beans, you seem to be missing out on fresh fruit and vegetables. Try adding apples, oranges, spinach, carrots, tomatoes, etc.

I'm assuming that the rice and bread are both white. If so, change over to brown rice and wholemeal bread. You'll soon notice a difference.

The lack of energy could indicate an iron deficiency, so you should include plenty of iron-rich foods - amaranth, oats, parsley, peanuts, quinoa, soybeans, sunflower seeds, tofu, wheat bran and to a lesser extent, spinach and other leafy vegetables, are all good sources. My ex-wife had an iron deficiency, and she wasn't even a vegetarian. The tiredness, lack of energy and staying in bed, feeling sick and sorry for yourself, sounds like her symptoms.

For the sake of extra protein, healthy fats, zinc and certain other vitamins and trace minerals, you should include perhaps a trail mix (nuts, seeds and dried fruit) in your daily diet.

Good luck.

EDIT: Going on all your symptoms, it could also be coeliac (celiac) disease, or one of a number of other conditions. You should go to the doctor, and get checked for intolerance to gluten and lactose, and have a blood test for anaemia (anemia) while you're there. If the doctor puts you on iron tablets, like my ex had to take, expect to be a bit constipated.

try eating some boca stuff it veg. stuff and its really good. it gives you more variety of foods to eat.

Mabey you aren't getting enough vitamens.

Your body is probably starving. You need to start cooking for yourself. Here are some good recipes:

Also pick up a box of Fiber One chewy bars. They come several to a box. Oats & Chocolate are our favorite, but there are other flavors too.

Drink lots of bottled water or your city's water if it is safe.

NEVER lay down after you eat. Always wait at least 30 minutes to an hour.

Do your best to walk everyday. Not run, walk. And it does not have to be for miles and miles. Just down the block and back.
