Answers: I understand there is a source of vegeterian whey and non veg source? Confused!

There are 3 different rennets used to make cheese( whey is a by-product of cheese-making).
Animal, vegetable and microbial rennet.
Obviously the animal rennet is not suitable for vegetarians.
So any cheese( or whey) that is derivied from animal rennet is not suitable for a vegetarian as well.

Isn't whey a by-product of cheese production?

So I would think whey is a dairy product - from cows.

Yes... just found this website.... whey is from dairy.

Whey is the byproduct of cheese making. It's vegetarian but not vegan. Do you mean rennet? There is synthetic and animal derived rennet.

There is no veg whey protein. Don't buy protein shake mixes anyway. It's a rip off.

Whey is a dairy product. If one is lacto-vegetarian or lacto-ovo-vegetarian, whey is acceptable. If one is vegan, it's not.
