  • Huh? did not know tofu is stinky. I love tofu. : )

because our laws have not yet focussed on preventing them from doing so. Right after the war on drugs is won, then the war on cancer and the war on terror have to be won; and after that comes the war on tofu.

I 've never heard of chinese stinky tofu... maybe it's like 1000-yr old eggs? But regular tofu has no smell whatsoever ... it doesn't have much taste either, and takes on the taste of whatever it's cooked with.....

    Why or how?

How - well it's a matter of taste really; what's intolerable to one person is delicious to another.

Why? See Grey M's brilliant answer. Nice one, Grey M!

What happened? Someone didn't cook it right for you?

Actually chinese stinky tofu is not a vegetarian dish as it contains shrimp brine so it is an omnivore food.

As to why people eat it? People eat all sorts of strange things. Balut, durian, caviar, cabeza, frogs legs, beef tongue, thousand year eggs, etc. There are even shows on the TV now with people just going around the world eating strange things (mostly animal foods).

to everyone: chinese stinky tofu is a TYPE of tofu.

And yeah my aunt says the taste is very strong and good that way, but I've never tried it before, is it really that smelly?

haha, i've been wondering the same thing. stinky tofu smells like cat crap, honestly! but people who eat it actually consider it a delicacy, they say it's delicious. i guess it's only a matter of taste. after all, some people love the durian fruit, which also smells like s#!t... sorry, no offense to those who like it.

i like a french cheese called "livarot" after the village in normandy it comes from. it smells so strong even in the frigo; lot smellier than stinky tofu

Why not? It is up to everybody, to eat what the like. Just because you don't like something/someone, does not mean I Don't, and vice verse. that is one of the major things wrong with the world today, people trying to push there beliefs off on other people, as Gospel!!
