also can you sweeten tofu- does that work or its not meant to be sweetened?

I believe you are thinking of sugar. Vegans avoid white sugar as it is filtered through bone char.
I do not know why Glenda W received two thumb downs. She is right. White rice is not very nutritious. Vegetarian or not, avoid white rice and refined grains in general.
You are already making the effort of adopting a healthful diet, why must you ruin it with pale, unwholesome rice?
No, vegetarians can eat any rice, as long as it's not cooked in animal-based stock. A lot of us choose brown rice because we are health-conscious as well as vegetarian. brown rice is less refined than white rice and is higher in fibre and some nutrients.
You can sweeten tofu, but usually it's only when the tofu is part of a dessert dish, like tofu-pumpkin pie or silken tofu in a smoothie or pudding. That's not to say that you can't sweeten it and eat it as it is. I just have never tried it. You would need to make a sweet marinade I imagine, because even sweetened, plain tofu wouldn't taste very exciting.
whole grains.... much healthier : ]
Yes!
I don't have the first clue what you're talking about. Rice is a plant food and vegetarians can eat any variety of rice they like provided that it's not cooked with something like chicken broth.
Yes, you can use tofu in sweet dishes. Silken tofu, especially, lends itself to things like fruit smoothies, puddings and desserts.
Vegetarians can eat anything they want as long as it doesn't contain meat products. Many vegetarians also adapt a healthier lifestyle, so they choose to eat brown rice instead of white. It's not a vegetarian thing, it's a health thing or just a preference.
of course not , that is the MOAST b/s ive ever heard in my LIFE ! ...
we can eat chocolate , cheese, chrisps , biscuits , meat products (a.k.a quarn ) and loads more !
Vegetarians don't eat just brown rice. It is healthy so it's preferred.
Yes you can sweeten tofu, I use it in making desserts and smoothies all the time. The silken kind, that is.
Vegans can eat many times of rice including white, red and wild. The reason you are associating this with vegetarianism is that it is more healthy to eat brown rice than white because it has a more complex carbs compliment and higher in fiber simply by being less processed.
Vegetarians often eat brown rice because it is healthier, but plenty of vegetarians eat white rice and other unhealthy food. Rice is not an animal product.
Tofu can be sweetened. Usually it is the silken kind that is sweetened and used in smoothies, baked goods, etc. I make a really delicious vegan key lime pie with tofu.
never heard that before but brown rice is better for u.
I don't know who told you that you could only eat brown rice, but they are incorrect.
As to tofu anyway that you want to eat it and it works for you and like it is the best way for you to eat it.
Food is meant to be enjoyed. There are no food police out there that demand that you eat things in a particular way. No matter how and what you eat, it all is personal choice.
There are many rices that a veg*an can eat. But brown rice is one of the healthiest because of the fiber content. You definitely don't want the white stuff because it just kind of clogs you up. It will make you fat if you eat enough of it.
Tofu will take on any flavor you season it with. You can marinate firm tofu to give it a sweeter taste or you can make desserts out of silken tofu.
Good rices= brown, arborio, saffron (yellow), red butan
bad= white rice
Vegetarians can and do eat other forms of rice. Most restaurants only serve white rice, so I'll eat it with my veggie stir fry. Some of us may prefer brown rice because it has fiber and other nutrients that are stripped away to produce white rice. I also like this black rice served by a local cafe. It's actually a pretty shade of purple when cooked.
As for sweetening tofu, if you're making a sweet dessert-type dish, you can.
