Vegetarian Caesar Salad Dressing?!
Answers: Does anyone know of a vegetarian friendly caesar salad dressing? I know that most contain anchovies as part of the natural flavoring. Caesar dressing is one of my guilty pleasures and I was devastated to give up. Please help!
Heres a great Vegan Caesar you can make at home, but you should have a food processor or good blender.
Ingredients
2 Tbs blanched and ground almonds
3 cloves garlic
3 Tbs nutritional yeast flakes
2 Tbs soy sauce or tamari
1 lemon OR 3 Tbs lemon juice
3 Tbs Dijon mustard
1/4 c water
1 Tbs extra-virgin olive oil or flax seed oil (optional)
1 lg head romaine or salad greens of your choice
Directions
Grind almonds in food processor (if needed). Add all remaining ingredients except the salad greens and blend until smooth. Toss greens (and any other veg you like) with salad, and serve!
I'm not sure if there are any veg caesar salad dressings that you can buy at the grocery.
Try googling "vegetarian or vegan caesar salad dressing" and you'll get some good recipes to make your own.
That is definitely one kind of salad that I miss since becoming veg 7 years ago!
Good luck!
