Why do some meat eaters even care what we veg*ns eat or don't eat?!

Question: I've noticed that there are a lot of meat-eating trolls here who make it a point to criticize and/or antagonize veg*ns every chance they get. Why? I know that some meat eaters will say that they hate it when veg*ns force their beliefs down their throats. If that's their argument, then let me say that as someone who's been a vegetarian for almost 20 years now, I never try to convert others to my way of thinking and if anything, I merely expect others to show me the same courtesy. Not only that, but as much as the meat-eating trolls here like to accuse veg*ns of ramming their beliefs down their throats, aren't they basically guilty of doing the same thing?

This is about trolls, right ? Not meateaters ?

on here they get to hide behind thier internet anonimity.

They feel brave. Here they can drop rubbish and run-and-hide. In real life they might have to face someone and explain thier comments. That would never do, would it ?

You won't hear from them in real life.

I've been veggie for 28 years, never ever bothered to talk to a meat-eater about it. Why would I ? why would i even think they care ? Of course i'm not interested in debating it with them, its a personal choice. Maybe once or twice someone has asked. But in 28 years it must be just a couple of times.

The trolls prop this forum up because thier cardialogist has told them to rest a while, look after thier blood pressure.

None of them ever seem to make the connection that this forum is entitled "Vegetarian and Vegan" and promoting V&V topics here is likely to be perfectly normal and exactly why the forum was set up, its not "forcing it down" anyones throat. If you come into this section, you are agreeing to hear pro-veggie comments. If you don't want to hear them, go elsewhere. Some of them cannot see that.

I don't go into a synogue and then get suprised they talk about Jewish issues. I have more sense than that.

Do you think the trolls drift into clubs in real life they don't agree with and start ranting across the room ? Highly unlikley.

I don't know why the first 3 answers take offense. i think your question was aimed at trolls. If they are not trolls, why did they feel offended ? No need.

It's great that you've made a choice that you feel good about and don't try and cajole others into agreeing with you but there are many out there now that are very vocal about their belief that eating meat is wrong. It's a very natural defense to cry out when someone tells us we're doing wrong when we don't believe we are. If you think all vegans or vegetarians keep their beliefs to themselves just take a moment to youtube vegans/vegetarians. Everyone should have the right to make choices and not be put down for them (as long as they aren't inflicting pain on someone else)

Edit: I understand that you're not referring to all of those who choose to eat meat; my point was that while I certainly applaud anyone who can make the choice to eat a diet for their health and/or beliefs, there are many vocal people in the media right now that have admonished meat eating ("it's murder", "you can't eat meat and be an environmentalist" etc...) Live and let live as long as it's not infringing on others' rights.

Why do you care what we eat?? Oh whine whine those creepy troll meat eaters are hurting my feelings!!

Look some will try to ram thier ideas down others throats and other people wont.
Some vegans do it and some meat eaters do it.
If it doesnt apply to you then quit taking it personally.,

Why do you call us meat eating trolls? I don't believe I have said you tried to force your beliefs on me and I have not tried to force my beliefs on you.

I feel sorry for you. But some vegans and vegetarians do try to push it down your throat and have a holier than thou attitude which might irritate non-vegetarians. I myself do not like these push selling vegans or vegetarians. However I have never tried to convert any vegan and for that matter I do not appreciate the term "troll".

Yeah, I think it's pretty rich to visit a *vegetarian* forum, criticize vegetarianism, then accuse us of forcing our beliefs on people. I've also been veg*n for decades and have... ZERO converts, including my ex-husband, who I lived with for eight years and my current boyfriend, who I've been with for three. If meat-eaters are comfortable getting that close to me without me cramming my views down their throats, then I don't see how anyone else can complain... If you don't want to be exposed to my honest opinion about veg*nism, don't come to a veg*n forum. I'm not in ANY way referring to all the meat-eaters here; some have honest, curious questions and some make a constructive contribution to the discussions here without judgement.

I am unsure whether you consider meat eaters "trolls" or just those that insult your choices. I am a meat eater and have never thought much about those that don't eat meat. It is there business, none of mine, in what they eat or don't eat. I expect the same respect from those who do not eat meat.

If you consider everyone who eats meat as "trolls" then often you do not have to say anything to make your feelings known. Our body language can project our feelings often better than words.

If you consider only those people who condemn/insult your dietary lifestyle then I agree. It is none of their business if you eat only certain foods. Of course any diet should be rich in vegetables and I love them without being a vegetarian/vegan.

There's a myriad of reasons why meaters are interested in veger diets. Stereotypes, ignorance, guilt, intentional disinformation, condescension, curiosity, to name a few. I've learned a lot here. I'm able to rattle off facts that I've learned in my time here like I've known them forever.

But why egg on those who come here to be abusive and attack, only to complain about it later?

"They prop this forum up because thier cardialogist has told them to rest a while, look after thier blood pressure"--maybe this type of condescension has something to do with it?

I'm pretty sure I'll live if you don't eat meat.

Let me just say that, I'm vegan.

Now let's begin.

First off, it's human nature to be curious, so there's your answer.

Secondly, I find it offensive that you're calling meat eaters, trolls. You're giving veg*ns a bad name.

You, yourself must be a troll to your definition "A troll is someone who makes it a point to post Q and A online for the purpose of antagonizing others." You're antagonizing meat eaters, so not only that but you're hypocritical.

a troll is someone who asks a question for the sole purpose to start a fight or insult another............when you use the term meat eater you are insulting people...........and if you think your question goes straight to V&V then you are wrong......your queston gets posted in food and drink general until it gets to the bottom of the page.........so it is there for all to see and answer.............put meat eater in the question and you will get answers from meat eaters..........simple

and by the way I personally don't care what you eat and would like for you to not care what I eat...............and I don't care for the term meat eater and I don't care to be called cruel and immoral for my choice of food and when some and I repeat some veggies come on here and call me names for my choices I will reply

Well, some of our people tend to preach to those who eat meat, which I think is ridiculous. I don't know why some of us vegetarians freak out when someone is eating steak. We should only worry about what we eat, and not what others eat. Frankly, I could care less if my boyfriend eats fifty pounds of steak. As long as I'm not eating fifty pounds of steak, I'm fine with it.

Because they have way too much free time and nothing better to do, I guess ...

Now you know how we feel.

Why? Because we're sick of vegans telling us that we're bad people for eating meat, and it's fun to "strike back" once and a while.

meat eaters like me sometimes care about what vegans eat because we feel sorry that you cannot eat the wonderful things in life and have a taste of it. Specially chefs like Gordon Ramsay. There are so much laws in this world and I think it's enough laws already.

meat eaters care because vegans like you cared enough to ask about it. if all vegans ignored people like us, then the issue would die down.
