What are some of the hidden animal-based ingredients vegetarians should look out for?!

Question: Since becoming a vegetarian about 4 years ago, I know how important it is to carefully read labels. I am aware of gelatin, tallow, rennet, and lard...but are there other hidden ingredients that I need to be aware of? Thanks!

This is a great question! Here is a huge chart of ALOT!

I would have put the chart into the e-mail, but it is BIG! I was totally not aware of some of these....

Yes, they say 0 grams if it is less than 1%....very decieving! I know that if you eat enough, it is 1% or more, but, based upon USDA standards, that is all they have to say! Sad!

Gelatin is the only one that I know of. I had to give up skittles, starbursts, jello and rice krispie treats. But there are good alternatives. Substitute the candy "Mamba" for starbursts, Kool-Aid Gels for the jello and make your own rice krispie treats by using the Marshmallow Fluff/Creme.
