What 5 food items should be avoided when a vegetarian?!

Question: Other than the meat, what are 5 things a vegetarian and/or a vegan should avoid?

For me:

Gelatin. It's a protein from mainly pigs' skin and sometimes other connective tissue, organs and intestines. This includes Jello & similar products, some cakes, lollies/candy, MARSHMALLOWS, some cosmetics etc.

White sugar & filtered water. Sometimes bone char (burnt and crushed animal bones) is used to filter or whiten things. I'm in Australia, so luckily we don't use bone char very often, but about a quarter of white sugar is produced using bone char worldwide.

Wine. Sometimes Gelatine is used in "wine fining" or clarifying. A number of other animal products including bull's blood can also be used!

CHEESE. Most cheese uses RENNET, a substance that comes from animals, particularly CALVES' STOMACHES! Most cheeses are NOT vegetarian! You must choose a cheese that is specifically vegetarian and uses a VEGETABLE ENZYME, never rennet enzyme.

Non-natural non-vegan/veg cosmetics. Lots of shampoos, conditioners, facials etc contain animal products.

Search on google/yahoo/whatever for websites that have material on animal products in food - there are many you wouldn't suspect.

Keep educating yourself :)

dairy.

JUNK JUNK AND JUNK! Junk food is my worst enemy! Ive actually gained weight from when i stopped eating meat. But beware of beef talow (cow fat) gelatin (crushed animal bones) found in jello, and marshmallows and of course theres dairy.

Rennet, gelatin, dairy products, eggs, and animal derived additives.
