Is pop bad for u if ur a vegetarian?!
Answers: obviously pop isnt all that healthy for u ne ways, but i heard from a friend of mine that drinking pop sucks the nutrients out of ur body and is especially bad for u if ur a vegetarian. i love pop and am addicted to it lol, i work at a day care so i crave the caffeine to keep me going. she said the caffeine was what sucks the nutrients out of u. is that true? if i get caffeine free pop would it still be just as bad for my body? thanks!!
soda's high levels of phosphorous can increase calcium loss from the body, as can its sodium and caffeine. so yes it's bad for a vegetarian. And yes it's still bad if it's caffeine free.
Its not vegan because of it's refined sugar content.
Caffeine.. oh my caffeine. That's the worst..
it can cause headaches, digestive problems, irritation of the stomach and bladder, peptic ulcers, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, anxiety, and depression( just to name a few).
I'm sorry to be one of the bearers of bad news..
but try to ween yourself off-
you will feel sooo much better with a glass of orange juice and a banana in the morning- or during the day to keep you going.
Pop is bad for you period
The more you work the more your body uses nutrients, so caffeine gives you a burst of energy which will use up nutrients. It's not really worse for you as a vegetarian. Just make sure to eat healthy.
pop is bad for anyone in the way of "sucking nutrients out of your body" but it isn't any worse for vegetarians. no one no matter what kinds of foods they eat should be putting that s*** into their bodies. but if you do need to drink or just WANT to drink make sure you're always drinking twice as much water as you are pop,juice,coffee,tea or anything. together we can help stop americas obesity issue!

You already know that sodas are not good for you so why not get your caffeine in healthier drinks such as tea? As far as 'sucking out nutrients' that's a new one on me but sugar-free sodas have been linked to bladder cancer. Most self-respecting vegetarians would not be caught, um, dead is a little severe of a word, but suffice to say most would just plain never drink sodas. Vegetarians are concerned with their health, the life and health of animals and the environment. Drinking a bottle of chemicals hardly classifies as good nutrition in anyone's book.
Actually caffeine dehydrates you and that is really bad. You may be quenching your thirst in the short run but in the long run it is really bad for you. Pop or Soda contains phosphoric acid, which can DISSOLVE your bones if you drink to much. Diet soda also contains aspartame, which may seem harmless, but it's not. When aspartame reaches a temperature of over 85 degrees fahreinheit (sp?) it turns into formaldehyde. This can make you really sick if you drink to much. It also darkens the color of your teeth. Do you really want brown teeth? Plus caffiene free pop isn't much better. Try drinking water (not flavored or vitamin) just plain water. It's good for you, good for your skin, good for your system, and keeps you hydrated. Plus it doesn't have tons of sugars and chemicals which are really bad for you. If you still love your pop try only drinking a can a day, this still isn't good buts its better than what your doing.
Caffeine is a drug and stays in your system up to 32 hours after you drink it.
Try all natural energy boosters. I am a vegan I have to admit I drink Starbucks decaf, but ginseng tea is waaay better for you.It gives you a boost but after you can still sleep at night because you are not too wired.
Try fresh fruit juices, organic and not from concentrate if you can.
Again like most things, drink in moderation, much healthier, you will have more energy by drinking juices than caffeine!
...if you're a vegetarian?
That makes absolutely no sense. How would it be worse for vegetarians?
Regardless of whether you eat meat or not, carbonated soft drinks leach calcium out of your bones, rot your teeth and contribute to risk of diabetes(just to name a few).
I've used pop to clean the acid from the battery terminals on my 74 Camaro! Pop acid is that much stronger then battery acid!!! You make your own conclusions.....
its not really the caffeine but its the phosphoric acid and all the sugar that's taking all the nutrients away. plus it "eats" away at ur stomach liner and ur bones but that will only be a problem if you drink like 5 cans a day and drink it every day.
(P.S. if u do drink it 4 times a day take a break and don't drink pop on the weekend,and maybe stop drinking pop and have some sorta caffeine pill each morning.(one's that your doctor says is OK.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"soft drinks, soft bones!"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would postulate it is actually worse for meat eaters as IMO they tend not to be as healthy as most vegetarians. There ills would be compounded by adding pop into their meat eating diets.
Nevertheless nobody should be drinking pop. Oh maybe if its one of those all natural ones, and even then only once in a blue moon.
It is just as bad (or good) for you whether you are a vegetarian or not. Pop or soda is not able to distinguish between a vegetarian or a non vegetarian, therefore the result is the same.
my teeth hurt so much because of pop. when i stop drinking pop for a few days, they don't hurt. basically, i came to realize that pop really does affect my teeth!
Well, I'd argue that soda is bad for you no matter what. I don't drink conventional sodas, but I do drink the carbonated fruit juices (such as Izze or Knudsen's Spritzers).
If you need the caffeine, you might want to drink tea instead. At least tea has some antioxidants, unlike soda.
And I've never heard of soda "sucking nutrients out of your body."
