Vegetarians/vegans... do you ever feel terrible?!

Question: Sometimes I feel like I will explode... the way animals are treated makes my blood boil. Sometimes I have no hope for the human race.

Here are some videos that make me feel a little bit of hope, and like I'm not alone in caring for animals... hope they do the same for you :)

Yes it makes me angry & heartbroken. That is why I always do my part to help 1)Veggietarian (I know how to really spell it I just say the veggie part to be silly sometimes lol) 2) Donate & volunteer for animals, etc 3)And we have 5 pets & 3 of 5 of them we rescued. Almost all of our pets we've ever had we've rescued/ You may feel sometimes like your not doing enough ( I feel that way sometimes) because I want to help every single animal & make all the bad stop, but doing what you CAN do is still making a difference

The way we treat our environment makes me want to explode

Yes, I get angry. Any semi-normal human being will become angry at what s/he perceives as gross injustices being perpetrated, especially when s/he feels powerless to stop them. And it's not just the animals, but human rights violations going on in the world.

But to keep the anger from consuming me, I know that at least I am doing the right thing. I know that I am trying to help others reduce meat consumption. I hope my leafleting, my posting here, my letter-writing (I've gotten a few letters on the subject published in newspapers and magazines) make people think. I can only change myself. You can only change yourself.

Take these bits of hope and use them as proof that the animals really don't want to be eaten, for one.

History is full of suffering, but it is also full of the overcoming of suffering. I don't recall who said that (or if it's the exact quote), but I think it may apply here.

thaxz........... ino hw that feeels... i thnk of how people eat meat and when once in a lifetime something kills a human, the animal gets killed. we dont get killed for eating animals. we are animals too ya no

its so angyfying.!

Occasionally I just feel disappointed and down about everything but I just focus on what I can do to make things better. Honestly, there's a lot of apathy about everything. People use every excuse they can think of to ignore the facts and it's come to the point where I don't even argue or talk a lot about being vegan, I just focus on bettering myself.

When I first became vegetarian I was pretty outspoken (and probably very annoying) but with time you get over it a little and realize that this isn't even the worst issue facing humanity right now.

I studied sociology until I switched to a medical career because I realized it was just too depressing to know in-depth the issues facing people these days.

I just realized that animal welfare, though a hideous and looming issue, isn't even as tragic as some other issues facing us now. I think if you look at society as a whole you will understand why being vegan makes little difference sometimes, and why the whole world is going to heck in a handbasket anyway.

In America, the news media is owned by 5 companies (nearly all print, television and radio). Democracy is dying, politicians are like objects at an auction (and a huge majority of campaign donations that buy these politicians off comes from the richest ten percent of the nation).

Meanwhile, 30 people die of hunger every minute worldwide (equivalent to the atomic bomb dropping on Hiroshima every 3 days in the end), there is genocide in Darfur. And yet America consumes over a quarter of the world's natural resources. And 80% of all plants grown now are fed to animals raised as livestock, even though it's an unsustainable system, and there's already huge global concern about grain shortage.

In America, the top tenth of 1% of the richest people in America own 90% of the material wealth in America. 40 million people live in poverty at the same time as CEO's of companies like Exxon make 100 million dollars a year - but the guy pumping gas at a Mobil gas station has to be on welfare to support his family.

Also, the US government gives more welfare and tax breaks and handouts to corporations (by the BILLIONS more) than it does to the poor. 50 years ago, tax revenue was 50% from taxes on corporations and 50% from income taxes. Now, tax revenue is 92% from income taxes and only EIGHT percent comes from these billion dollar companies that rule America.

And yet people sit there with their mouths gaping, jamming burgers in their faces and laughing at the garbage on television while nothing but the worst and most putrid of things happen all around them. I think that ignorance and apathy is destroying society, and I find it all extremely depressing.

So I focus on social issues and making things better. I volunteer A LOT, I do a lot of volunteer work and I'm already on the short list for a humanitarian rights mission to Darfur. As soon as I finish my education ( I don't want to just have nursing degrees, I want to have a full PhD and Masters) I will go.

Instead of letting misery and hopelessness consume you, just feel motivated and empowered that you are informed.

There is no point in feeling terrible unless it results in some form of positive action.

Feeling terrible does not help the animals.

If you take regular positive action you might find you wouldn't feel so terrible because you would be achieving something.

maybe you do, and i don't care either way because its entirely up to you, I'm just saying that in my experience it helps reduce the feeling of dispair if you take postive action to improve the lot of animals.

Just my opinion

Why do some of us have the time to rant about how animals are treated.. while there areour fellow human beings out there in those terrorized areas being tortured, killed.. etc?

our world will always be like that,
you gotta deal and just try to do as much as you can to help yourself and others.

killing animals has been a tradition ,
but I want that to change for the next generation

Seeing how mistreated animals are just makes me want to cry. No living being should be put through torture! How can some humans be so cruel?

It makes my blood boil that people think that everyone can eat a vegeterian diet and respect animals. I was born with alot of alergys and a result there is only a few things I can eat. My main diet is practiacally meat and potato's. I cant live on potatos alone, what am I supposed to do.

So my question to you is how can you justify the bashing of animal products when they are really one of a few things that keep me alive.
