What health benefits do mushrooms have?!
Answers: I know this is a random question, but I am curious! I had a portebella with lunch and was pondering it's nutrional value!
Mushrooms are an excellent source of potassium, riboflavin, niacin, copper and selenium.
Potassium is a mineral that helps lower elevated blood pressure and reduces the risk of stroke.
One medium portabella mushroom has even more potassium than a banana or a glass of orange juice. One serving of mushrooms also provides about 20 to 40 percent of the daily value of copper, a mineral that has cardioprotective properties.
Selenium is an antioxidant that works with vitamin E to protect cells from the damaging effects of free radicals. Antioxidants are known to prevent age-related degeneration, particularly neural degeneration related to cognitive decline.
This has been known to reduce the risk of prostate cancer in men.

Mushrooms contain vitamin K and some B-Vitamins. They add texture to a dish too. I'm not a fan of them, but if you like them, keep eating!! :-)
They are a great source of phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and selenium, nutrients often lacking in our highly processed-food diets. In addition, mushrooms contain virtually no fat or cholesterol. Naturally low in sodium, mushrooms are also a good source of fiber.
Portabella is a great source of riboflavin, panthothenic acid, niacin, thiamine, folate, selenium, lyseine, protein, zinc, copper, manganese, and iron. Morels are similar to the portabella benefits with adding vitamin D and potassium.
