Do you contribute to any animal organizations?!

Question: Which ones are they? I currently give small donations to Defenders of Wildlife and World Society for the Protection of Animals. Are there any great, worthy organizations that I should check out in addition to the ones I already contribute to?

  • I donate to my local humane society. I feel bad for all the homeless animals. I just want to adopt them all!

This year for my birthday I asked all my friend to skip and on the presents and show me the $$$$$$ I raise a total of 215$ for my local humane society.

Yes, I always collect food and beds and give to the humane socity they look so sad : (

I donated some money to the grassroots effort group from a local town of mine that went to New Orleans to help rescue stranded pets after people had been evacuated. But I also had donated to help relocate and accommodate human survivors as well.

Currently there's a local no-kill shelter that I donate supplies to quarterly, I requested for them to mail me a list of things they need and some of the stuff they tell me about include light bulbs (type and wattage), batteries, trash bags, pet food (type and size of bags included), paper towels, pet toys, etc. I can't buy everything on the list but since I don't have pets of my own I go and buy whatever I can afford at the time.

I like to spend time with the animals at the shelter too, but that's not really a donation of money or anything. The pets there are typically rescued animals or unwanted animals, so they need to feel that humans still love them and CAN love them, at least until they can find a home. Honestly it's really hard to not adopt all of the pets, but my apartment building forbids any pets of any kind short of fish, so I'll wait until I can.

I think you should look into helping out local shelters, you wouldn't believe how satisfying it is to help out sometimes. The pets in shelters have all the love and energy in the world to give to people that are willing to give them the time of day. :)

Yes I have. I have donated money to the Friends of Barc.

My favorite charity! They help homeless little Corgis that have extreme medical situations that might not otherwise get help.

Corgis rock & they are cute too! Check out the dogs helped pages. But have tissues handy!

I think the National Audubon Society and the World Wildlife Fund use their funds for some amazing things. They're pretty big but they have lobbiest and I really think thats one of the most important things in charities. Also check out message products, its an easy way to get the word out and contribute to your favorite charity. I have some great Greenpeace checks. http://www.messageproducts.com/Home.aspx

I'm a member of PETA. When I get a job I'll start giving them donations.

The only animal organization I currently give money to is The Animal Defense League in San Antonio. It's the largest no kill shelter in the Southwest, and the people are wonderful. The animals have lifetime homes there, the dogs have indoor / outdoor rooms, and there is a garden and a track where volunteers come take them for a run. They have a separate cat cottage, with a fenced in yard with open access, and comfy chairs for the volunteers who come play with the kitties.

Their adoption fees are still reasonable, the staff knows the quirks of each animal, and they have an onsite clinic for veterinary care.

World Society for the Protection of Animals
    Local Humane Society

    Yes, VIVA and CIWF

    Vegetarians International Voice for Animals

    Compassion in World Farming

    Both excellent organisations

I volunteer for the local vegetarian society and serve on its board. I frequently table on their behalf, and run one of the social events, monthly restaurant visits.

I volunteer a few times a month for another vegetarian organization, Compassion Over Killing, and donate to them on occasion. Because of my work schedule, I can go to their office and help with mailings. I also leaflet for them.

I also donate to the Humane Society of the U.S. and hope to volunteer at their TAFA conference this year.

I am a member of RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) and I donate money to the Wildlife trust. :-)
