What alternative food have you been given as a veggie?!
Someone I know was at work when they sent out for lunch, knowing he was a veggie they bought him a cheeseburger!
Answers: I was at a dinner and served steak, I told the waiter I dont eat meat so I was given lamb!

Yea, this happened a lot to me too. I am a veggie and I don't eat eggs too. Once I ordered for a veggie salad and they got me an egg salad. They expected me to eat the lettuce and the rest of the stuff and leave the eggs out. As someone mentioned, I got Caesar Salad with ham once. Since then I'm quite wary of ordering salads.
Similarly, I got a cheeseburger once.
A lot of times when I say "no meat, no eggs" the waiter recommends me some seafood like sushi, etc. :-) So nowadays, I say "no meat, no eggs, no fish" and the waiters roll their eyes and look at me with an expression that asks "so what do you eat? grass?"
But times have changed for the better and people respect vegetarianism.
Ugh. I had an experience with someone who thought it would be funny to trick me into eating meat, and it took a lot of anger control not to start a brawl. Why don't people just accept your choice and move on rather than mock you for it? It's aggravating.
I was working in a restuarnat as a chef, one of the other chefs had a vegeterian send back a rack of lamb he painstakenly prepared so he stuck a pigs head on a silver platter and sent it out to them, they didnt like that very much.
It wasnt me that did it, why did somone give me a thumbs down.
One morning I was really tired after work and ordered an egg mcmuffin "with no meat". It even stated that on the receipt. When I took it back to complain the grill person said they didn't know canadian bacon was meat!
haha.. I once asked for a ceasar salad at Wendy's with no meat on it. WHen I got it, it had bacon. When I politely reminded them that I asked for it with no meat, the responce was, "that aint meat, its bacon"
When I was a secondary school one of the French teachers told me about when she was given chicken when she went to France on a French exchange by the family she was staying with. For some reason the French don't think poultry is non-veggie.
I've been quite a strict vegetarian for 10 years, but every Christmas, my dad asks me if I would like some beef on my plate!! I'm like, ''no dad..Duh''
