Islamic science says animal sacrifices are fine because studies show that plants also feel pain. Is this true?!
Answers: It may seem ridiculous at first... but what if plants really do feel pain? Even though they don't have a central nervous system how can we know?
no it's not true. Anybody that says something like that, ask them which studies they are referring to?
Then bring the info here and post the links on the biology or botany threads. Get the readers to view the papers and tell you if the studies are bogus or not.
But the thing is, they won't be able to tell you what the studies are because they probably don't exist. The only studies I'm familiar with are those that show that plants respond to energy. This doesn't even come close to equating to pain.
Plants dont have a brain to recognize pain. Where do people come up with this stuff........
"Islamic science"? Is that as oxymoronic as "Christian science"? Leave the science to the scientists and the fantasies to the religious.
They are physiologically incapable of feeling pain. They do not have the sensory organs or systems to register pain.
There is a difference between feeling pain and defense mechanisms. Obviously plants have ways to ensure their survival. Besides, plants don't have brains...how could they interpret pain?

there is no such thing as Islamic science there is blind belief only
I am thankful for all my food. I know that in order for me to eat meat an animal must die. I also know that in order for me to eat vegetables a living thing is destroyed. I feel the same thankfulness and reverence for both. People who eat meat have been accused of having no feelings for what their diet had to give up. I wonder if veges have that same feeling about their diet because "it causes no pain".. I can sleep just as sound with my diet as the most rabid of vegans can with theirs.
Well, a lot of religious groups say a lot of things, most of them ridiculous. Plants don't have central nervous systems, and they don't have ways to avoid being eaten--because they are fixed to the ground, remember? If you try to pluck a piece of fruit from a tree or a leaf from a plant, there's no reaction. But if you touch an animal, he'll react. There are reports of animals escaping from trucks bound for the slaughterhouse. There are reports of animals escaping their confinement. Anyone who has been in a slaughterhouse will tell you the animals react to what is happening.
And even if plants feel pain, you're killing far more of them by eating eight ounces of meat than you are a plant-based dinner.
We don't know for sure. Just like we don't know if a rock, paperclip or keyboard feel pain.
However, the general consensus is that plants don't feel pain.
Plants do not appear to know pain, fear, a sense of community, family awareness, self awareness, moods, thought processes memory, logic, an understanding of cause and effect
Animals do.
A whole bunch of behaviours have been proven and tested to show that animals, including farm animals, are independent thinking beings.
My sheep recognise me, they treat me differently to the shearer because they know i'll treat them different to him. That proves they have logic, memory, a decision process, feelings and a thinking capacity with which to process information and decide whether to come or run.
Does a carrot ?
Lets just pander to this nonsense for a second. So what if plants feel paint ? By cutting out dead animals you are still drastically reducing the suffering in the world.
read their research
Research scientists at Baylor Medical Center have proven that plants, including vegetables, feel pain when subjected to trauma such as being yanked out of the ground, peeled, cooked, and eaten. "Veggies and plants initiate a massive hormone and chemical barrage internally when they suffer any kind of injury," says professor Barry Lindzer. "This response is akin to the nerve response and endorphin release when an animal is injured. We cannot ignore the similarities." When Tarnish asked professor Lindzer and his research team what they thought this finding might mean, they responded unanimously, "Nobel prize, baby!"
Other agencies, namely People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the sum total of the world's hard-core vegetarians (known as vegans) registered formal complaints against the research. Their team of lawyers has already submitted a motion to have the results of the research destroyed or sealed. Others fear the damage has already been done. A spokesman for PETA said, "This is bad for us. Most of our members haven't eaten anything since hearing about the results. Our lawyers are looking into suing Mother Earth for false advertising, but concede that the suit will probably be inconclusive. In the meantime we'll be surviving on vitamin supplements and water."
In an ironic related story, a dozen PETA protesters picketing the Hungry Carnivore Steak House in New York City were allegedly assaulted by three patrons of the restaurant. Eyewitnesses say that the picketers were making their typical nuisance display of scorn and righteous indignation over the willful consumption of "the flesh of murdered animals" outside the Hungry Carnivore when two unidentified men and a woman stepped out of the establishment and sprayed the picketers with several gallons of what appeared to be blood. Victims and bystanders alike were surprised to discover that the liquid was actually V-8 juice. The truly shocking result of the alleged attack was the reaction of the picketers. All of the PETA protesters were wracked with convulsions and suffered hours of dry heaves while many of the bystanders merely laughed. This reaction within vegetarianism's great bastion of faith has many true believers reconsidering their dietary requirements. Others are quietly making funeral arrangements and the Environmental Protection Agency is considering declaring vegans an endangered species.
The answer is in the question. We can know because they don't have a central nervous system.
And justifying an animal sacrifice because plants can feel pain is, indeed, ridiculous.
That's like saying: "I stepped on a bug- you can't help but step on a bug from time to time. Oh well, I guess I'll go light that puppy on fire."
I have never heard such rubbish in all my life. Plants are NOT sentinent beings!!! Therefore how can they feel pain?
Plants have no nerve endings. They can't feel pain. Does this mean you shouldn't respect plants too? No. Plants are an important part of the world too.
