Its sad that most factory farms do mistreat their animals, but there are places out there that are kind to the animals. Usually organic farms (that dont give their animals chemicals and stuff) treat the animals good and slaughter them in a painless way. Remember when PETA gets these videos it isnt every factory farm, just the ones they decided to investigate, it could be isolated cases.
you have no idea. Read the book skinny b*tch. I cried.
no kidding!!! they kill (slaughter) chickens cows and pigs in an evil way
some people torture and some kill you eat it or you dont
yes that is all entirely true. I saw that video and it caused me to go begetarian as well. its a very enjoyable lifestyle, actually. It helps to do it gradually too, so that you dont give it up cold turkey and then end up not doing it for long.
You have no idea how horrible and dirty the meat, egg, and dairy industries are.
If I wasn't vegan when I read Fast Food Nation, I definitely would have become one.
As for the meat my animals require, I get it from a family owned farm where I know they do things properly.
yes they do.
its really sad that animals are put through this just for someone's eating pleasure.
vegetarianism is really the way to go.
meat is just really gross and dirty.
plus no animal should be treated that way.
once you for vegetarian you feel so much better about yourself and what your eating.
go to peta2.com
you'll get lots of information on animal cruelty and vegetarianism.
just make sure to eat enough proteins.
yup
All meat comes from slaughter.
Slaughterhouses are not natural.
You don't need meat to be healthy.
IF you choose to go vegetarian, I will support you all the way!! :-)
It would be such a shame to give up meat because of how some people choose to treat their animals. If you have the means to do so buy from local, free range and organic producers. Visit the farms where your food comes from and then make a more informed decision.
Good luck with whatever decision you make.
i'm sad to say that it is true. it makes me SICK. i hope you're right about never eating meat again......each vegetarian saves the lives of 100 animals per year!!! why would anyone EVER want another living creature to suffer that way? i will never understand it.
of course they torture animals. - how else do you think they kill them. - Hug them to death.
Unfortunately, there are some cases where animals are abused like this. But I think the video exaggerated some of its "facts" and this kind of abuse doesn't occur in a normal environment. I've worked at a hog farm and while it can be a little crammed, it was never that bad.
sadly yes it is. they jsut kill them. slaghter. if u see how they make fur.. oo u really dotn want to know. they smash the samll animals and they ar elittle unconcounce. den they cute a tiny hoel frotm eh tail and they rip it up to the facea nd then the animals is skinless and den dey jsut wait for it to die. -=[
I'm sorry, I'm going to answer this without viewing the posted video. I've seen all the animal slaughter I need to.
Slaughterhouses are a nightmare. Which is why they have the highest turnover rate of any industry, and an injury rate approaching 100%.
The Meat Industry: It's not just bad for the cows.
You can buy free range chicken and chicken eggs these days. I'm a veggie but my parents aren't so I make them buy free range.
very isolated I believe
What would be the point?
It is so much easier to kill them quickly
Most prudent people view that ~torture porn~ with a grain of salt
Not many slaughter houses would make money if they took that time to torture animals and watch them SLOWLY die...
Think of all the potential damage (and injury) a flailing, moving, animal would make...
use your common sense people.
Because something is unpleasant, DOESN'T make it cruel.
Absolutely, KFC has no regard for the chickens they prepare for you, for example, they boil them alive.
Check out www.peta2.com for some helpful information on how to eat more animal friendly or a list of alternative protein sources.
Yes its true.
Most people just prefer to ignore it though.
yes, i have also seen that video and it was what really pushed me over the edge.. before i just ate chicken && turkey because i was a similar video about just cows && pigs.. then when i saw that i stopped eating meat completely.
they torture vegetables too
I sure hope so!! It makes them taste better!!
yer, and Vegitables lol
I am more concerned about the 10 of thousands of Africans who die of starvation and diseases every day...
They don't torture them; they just 'grow' them in the cheapest possible way. If that means cramming hundreds of cows, or thousands of chickens into a shed then so be it. The standards for most animals are far below that for humans, but for many animals (including chickens) they are barely non existent.
Anti-animal-industry groups aside, it’s easy enough to look on government websites to find out how big cages need to be, and what living conditions are considered acceptable to make the decision for yourself.
What also gets a lot of people is how early animals lives are ended, chickens for example are slaughtered after a few months (rather than living for 15+ years), even egg laying chickens stop being profitable after two years.
At the end of the day, if you want to pay a £, (or a $) for a pint of milk, or £2.50 for a chicken, somewhere along the lines costs will have to be cut.
in RE to FrenchCanuck, it takes 5 times as much energy from grain to feed cattle for meet than you get back from the meet (since the cow uses it growing, breathing and being pregnant all the time). We only have a food shortage because so many people would rather eat beef than grain (i.e. there would be nearly 5 times as much food to go around if we didn't eat meat - plenty to feed the world).
