Does the banana diet really works?!

Question: I just need to take of ten pounds and am good.
But a lady told me the best diet she came up with and she tells few people is to eat only bananas and as much as you want...meaning real bananas nothing added. She even put her 16 year old daughter on it and she lost five pounds she said. And her daughter did look very healthy.

She did make a point that people put poison on fruits and veggies but the banana is safe inside.

But what are your opinions on this diet?
And would I lose weight fast just eating banana's?

Any diet that limits you to one food is nonsense. You're not getting anywhere near all the nutrients you need. If you try to take weight off quickly by doing a stupid fad diet, you'll just gain it back anyway when you start eating normally again. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to figure out how to burn more calories than you consume while still eating normally (i.e. you're satisfied and you're getting all your nutrition.)

You can lose a pound a week by creating a deficit of 500 calories a day. Do this by cutting portion sizes, swapping junky empty calorie treats for fruit (here's where your bananas make sense) or other healthy snacks, and increase your activity level. If you take your time and do it right you're much more likely to sustain it.

Here is the nutritional information for a banana: http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-C0000...

It would be nonsense to call a banana a "complete food." No food has all your required nutrients. For example, bananas have only 3% of your daily protein requirement - you'd have to eat 33 of them to get enough protein. And it still wouldn't have all the amino acids you need because most plant foods, including bananas, are not complete proteins. Not to mention that you'd easily be deficient in every vitamin except C and B6, same thing with minerals.

Its all about calories in vs calories out. A medium banana has 105 calories. You should have at eat 1,200 calories a day to loose weight and not have you metabolism slow down. So you can eat 11 bananas a day or eat 11 of any other food that is 105 calories. Banana are nutritious and because the peel comes off they are safer than alot of other fruits and veggies. They are high in sugar and don't have much protein or fiber. The best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat a well balance diet.

Probably. And bananas are a complete food meaning they have all the nutrients you need. I wouldn't do it for more than a couple days or you might have digestive problems. Any "diet" where you are consuming less calories will equal weight loss. You just have to burn off more calories than you eat and you will lose weight.

It's a fad diet, good for a few days, but really doesn't solve the problem of why your over weight in the first place. Only life style change keeps weight off.

The body cannot cope with processing one food, or you get nutrient deficiencies. In fact, you will actually gain weight if you don't get other nutrients, simply because your metabolism cannot process the way it should

The Best Diet:
- Exercise
- Limit your sugar and fat intake
- Eat as much fruit as you want in place of processed foods
- Don't forbid yourself from anything - you just end up binging on it.

- Harvest Moon

No Bananas r gross and no one likes them so dont try it because they store over 1000 grams of trans fat per banana....it could also cause an overly ripped body due to the potassium they have

It might "work" in that you may lose weight on it, but it is not healthy and you will likely gain the weight back once you start eating normally again.

Try the Wu-Yi Tea Diet instead: http://DietoftheYear.info

It helped me lose 8 lbs. in the past 2 weeks.

It's not a good diet at all.
It might help you lose weight, but I can guarantee you that you'll probably gain it back. Eating just bananas doesn't give your diet any variety or all the nutrients you need to stay healthty.
I'd also like to add that you can't eat as much of anything as you want since all foods have calories and going beyond the limit of what you need will make you gain weight.
