I agree with Boredash... most non-veg people simply don't understand it so they push it away.

Personally, I eat meat - so sometimes I'll ask a veg, why they they're vegetarian, and most of them don't mind talking about it because it does educate people. I'm just always careful to respect they're answer and not try to change their way of thinking or believing.

I have nothing against them.

We naturally fear what we don't understand, or stuggle to find within ourselves.

For most people against vegetarians or vegans, they often cannot bring themselves to adopt the same practices, or even to examine their own ways of doing things. So in the natural human way, they will attack others who do.

It's easier to give attention to somebody else, than to examine your own values and behavior.

I think it's because some vegetarians/vegans act superior about their choices/guilt trip others about their choices.

However, you don't seem to be that way :)

I'm vegetarian, and I couldn't agree with you more!

I hate it when people hate on us vegetarians and vegans.

Adults acting like children

<sighs>

i have no problem with anyone being vegan or a vegetarian. what ticks me off is when people post these youtube clips saying look at what you're doing to these poor animals. how can you be so mean. leave me alone and i'll do the same.

The only thing I would ever have against vegetarians or vegans is that some of them push their beliefs on other people. Personally I am not a vegetaian and I don't like it when people try to tell me tat eating meat means that I hate animals. That just isn't true.

They get defensive because they don't understand and it goes against their thoughts.

I am not necessarily against the V/Vs. I am against many of the rabid attacks that some employ against me and my way of life.

Boredash I am 68 years old and I am not overly afraid of anything especially not a vegan. Many millineum of my diet has come before me so I will just continue in my sensible ways.

I too am a vegetarian and the only obsession about what I am and what I do that I am interested in is my husband's. Pretty much don't care what other people think one way or the other. I did not become a vegetarian to get approval or to fit in or to have a cool label or any of that nonsense that some people think of vegetarians.

I don't think people are against vegans/veggies, it is the fact that those who are think that is the only way to live and are obnoxious about it. People who eat food which includes meat will make sure that if a veggie come to an event they have veggies, but the reverse will never happen cause veggies feel that if they have contact with meat they will explode or something. I would become a veggie but I only eat one portion of meat for every 3 portions of veggies/starches, I don't eat entire meal consisting of just meat. This is a fact that most veggies fail to realize. People who eat meat eat more veggies/starches with each meal than meats. I never ate, beef, chicken, fish and pork on one plate alone 3 times a day for weeks. Who could afford that? Anyway....just my two cents on the way veggies present themselves. I feel people should eat what they want. But I also feel that no one way is better or worse.....

Because many, but not all veggies come up with completely untrue and ridiculous fantasies about why meat eating is unnatural and insist on telling all and sundry about it. It's rude, annoying and selfish.
People should make there own lifestyle choices without undue pressure from fundamentalists, we all have free will and the power to choose and live withour own decisions.

It's easier to be an omnivore. They don't want to change. But the facts about the way animals are treated make them feel guilty, and the facts about the health implications of meat make them feel bad.

No one likes to feel like their lifestyle is wrong, so as justification, they lash out irrationally.

I guess it works both ways... obnoxious veg's get meat eaters annoyed with all of us, and obnoxious meat eaters get veg's ticked off and more vigilant. Then it turns into a vicious cycle of nastiness. Unfortunately, there's just a certain number of humans who will always be cranky and rude, regardless of what they eat.

But from what I've encountered here, I'm shocked at the animosity and rudeness that's aimed at people who choose a lifestyle that doesn't include animal exploitation. I never force my beliefs on anyone or act self-righteous, but my underlying belief is that the meat, dairy and egg industries are horrific and the world would be a better place if factory farms didn't exist.

And that leads to my response to the guy complaining about people posting links to videos showing the truth of the factory farming industry... Veg's aren't trying to make you mad... most of us simply want others to know the truth of the industry that most people aren't aware of. It's like getting mad at World Vision commercials because they're showing you a brutal truth that most people don't like to think about. I think anyone who has ever had a pet and cared for it should be concerned with the welfare of ALL animals... so if you see what really goes on in factory farms, you might want to alter your lifestyle a little so that you don't support that cruelty.

I should also say that I don't expect everyone to become vegan. (In my version of a perfect world, yes, but realistically...) I do think, however, that everyone can make changes that help reduce animal cruelty. If you're going to eat meat, why not buy from a local farmer, who is probably more likely to treat his/her animals humanely and with dignity? Same goes for eggs and dairy.

people are ignorant.
they don't want to be wrong about the way they are.
they think anything that goes against what they think is wrong or stupid, or unhealthy.

its silly we are genetically ominous
