Does anyone else think that lettuce is extremely boring?!

Question: Poor lettuce. Alone, it is left without a leg to stand on. Only when it is paired with more spontaneous veggies does it get noticed. No heat cooking to make it more interesting, it just disappears. What's good about lettuce?

I've always thought the sole purpose for the existence of lettuce on this planet was to get the dressing neatly from plate to mouth. Do I hear an "amen!"?

Not a thing. I choose spinach instead every time :-)

ewww. yes! it is so boring and i think it gross on top of that!

I agree with you!!! It takes an entire salad with other ingredients, or a topping for a sandwich, for it to be remotely interesting! It wilts in the freezer, it can't be put into hot dishes.

What's good? Well... fiber, vitamins, minerals. But that still doesn't make it interesting!

lol. lettuce isnt boring. Its food, not art unless you consider food art. It will slowly breakdown to dirt so its not really lasting art. Dont starve yourself looking at it to dry up.

Actually, *good* lettuce is really good. Forget iceburg... blech. But the dark green and red lettuces I grow in my garden are pretty tasty. True, I don't just eat them plain, but they make a great salad.

i can cook lettuce soup with egg. chinese chicken bone stock taste!!

Baby arugula is my favorite. Raw, it has a lovely mustard-like flavor with a softer texture than spinach. Cooked, it tastes like any mild green vegetable.

Lettuce makes cabbage look good.
