chickens eggs that u buy in the store are not fertilized meaning chickens produce eggs and if no male fertilizes them they just would go to waste but instead they put them in cartons and sell them so the chick isn't actually developed at all because they came from a hen u lays them either way fertalized or not ...and about the seafood most vegetarians iv met eat it they are called pesco-vegetarians :)
im a vegetarian and i eat eggs. they have to be fertilized by a rooster in order to start forming a chick, so the eggs in the store were taken from farms w/o roosters
some vegetarians eat seafood, some dont, i dont, but i know people who do
there are many types that break down
Octo-Lacto Vegetarian (The most popular definition, also known as Ovo-Lacto)
Vegetarians eat no red meat, poultry, fish, or products that have ingredients which are animal-based such as Gelatine. They do eat Vegetarian cheese, yoghurt, milk, eggs, honey etc. They also don't wear leather or fur.
Lacto Vegetarian
Lactose-Vegetarians do not eat any foods that involve the slaughter of animals. They don't eat eggs, but do eat Vegetarian cheese, yoghurt, and milk.
Vegan
Vegans do not eat the same things as vegetarians but also will not eat any product that is derived from animals. No meat, cheese, butter, milk, eggs or honey.
Demi-Vegetarian (commonly misinterpreted as Vegetarian by meat-eaters)
Demi-Vegetarians don't eat red meat or poultry, but they do eat fish, eggs, Vegetarian cheese, and milk-based products. This is not true Vegetarianism, although it is probably easiest for those just starting to become Veggie.
Fruitarian
A Fruitarian is somebody who believes that you should not kill any living thing to survive. Instead, they can only eat the fruit of plants that don't actually mean death to the plant. This is actually true believe it or not!
Vegetarians eat eggs and dairy, but no meat and seafood. All vegetarians don't eat meat or seafood. Vegans don't eat anything that is from an animal.
Vegetarians eat animal bi-products like eggs and some eat seafood vegans on the other hand are the ones that eat no animal products what so ever
Ovo-vegetarians eat eggs. Does she include dairy products in her diet as well? In that case she would be a Lacto-ovo-vegetarian. One who abstains completely from all animal products and all animal by products (eggs, milk, honey, wool, leather, silk, fur, ETC) would be considered a vegan, or a strict vegetarian.
Vegetarians absolutely do NOT eat seafood. The person you are referring to here is not vegetarian. He is a pescetarian... someone who eats sea creatures but no other types of meat.
Hope this helps.
taking eggs and seafoods will not be a vegetarians
it depends on what kind of vegetarian you are... i eat eggs, milk, cheese, seafood, and sometimes chicken (when i go out and they dont have seafood) but yeah anyways, eggs arent meat, and it doesnt hurt animals... i know im a hypocrite because i eat chicken, but i only eat it occasionally... but yeah, some vegetarians dont eat anything that actually hurt the animals...
Ok, eggs might not be 'formed', but umm...fish are. I've been told that one of the reasons for being a vegetarian is that they don't believe in killing anything. Hey... if your eating a spinich leaf (yuk)- it was harvested, and it was murdered so you could eat it. This is what life is. Personally, I don't see how anyone can live, and be healthy without eating a nice thick steak once in a while.
Vegetarians can eat eggs. The eggs that everyone eats aren't fertilized and can never develop into living creatures.
I love this question! Hopefully I can help you out. First of all, there are different types of vegetarians. Here are some simple definitions.
Ovo-Lacto Vegetarian: One who does not eat meat, but does eat eggs and milk products. This is the most popular form of Vegetarianism in the United States. Vegans do not eat (or use) anything that came from an animal, including milk and eggs. So your friend (the one who eats eggs) is a vegetarian, but not a vegan.
If people eat fish, they are consuming an animal, so they wold not be considered a vegetarian, but rather a Pescetarian (which means they are similar to a vegetarian but they consume fish).
So to really answer your questions:
"do vegetarians (real ones, that don't eat meat or seafood or any of that sort) eat eggs?" Yes!
"do vegetarians eat seafood since its not a land animal?" No!
I also used to be very confused on this.
Real vegetarians can eat:
-Milk
-Kefir
-Yogurt
-Cheese with vegetable renet (unless specified, renet is animal's stomach lining).
-Eggs.
Vegetarians can eat eggs because it's not always a baby chicken. Yes, every egg has the potential to become a baby chick, but ONLY if a male hen fertilizes the egg. Almost all grocery store eggs are unfirtilized, and do not hold the potential to become a baby chick.
Can vegetarians eat seafood? No. If a vegetarian says that they eat seafood (not sea lettuce etc, but fish) then they are not a vegetarian, they are a Pescetarian.
Pescetarians eat everything a vegetarian eats, except they allow fish in their diet. For example, cheese with animal rennet is still not allowed in their diet.
Vegans cannot eat:
-Any dairy products: cheese, milk, yogurt, kefir, etc.
-Any meats: Fish, land animals, etc.
I hope this anwers your question!
Good luck,
I can't eat any red meat but I don't think vegetarians can eat seafood.
There's another group called vegans who can't eat any meat, eggs or tofu.
Yes, they may eat eggs. Eggs are not an unformed baby chick, they are a single cell. The eggs you buy at the supermarket are unfertilized and will never become a chick. They are analogous to the egg that a woman expels with her period each menstrual cycle.
No, vegetarians do not eat seafood. The one overriding thing that defines a vegetarian is not eating dead animals. If it came from an animal and the animal died for it, it's not vegetarian.
Beyond dead animals, each vegetarian makes their own call on dairy products and eggs. Some eat both, some eat one or the other, some eat neither, which does not automatically make them vegan.
Veganism seeks to eliminate animal exploitation and extends beyond diet. Vegans don't eat, use, wear or otherwise consume anything of animal origin whatsoever.
Eggs that are sold for consumption are unfertilised. They will never turn into a chick.
I don't eat eggs, personally I find it gross. They come from a chicken's butt!

To clear up any confusion, NO vegetarians eat seafood. Fish and crustacea are FLESH therefore vegetarians avoid it.
Different types of vegetarians. I know that sounds wierd. I refuse to eat red meat. But i eat white meat (chicken and fish). Mums a chef, have to eat fish. But eggs are allowed, there not meat. Seafood is though. If your trying to be a veg than think about what your eating. Puts my mum of meat for a bit if she does that. Beef, your eating a calf... etc... cute stuff. lamb... pigglet... I have refused to eat meat since i was 3. Didnt like the texture.
Also, for Abu... Vegans can eat tofu. Tofu is just beans! Get your facts right.
