Animal products used in tattoo materials?!

Question: Are there animal products used in tattooing? I saw a reference to it somewhere and thought someone on here might know.

Yes, the vehicle for some tattoo inks is animal-derived glycerin. There ARE vegan tattoo inks that use plant-based ingredients only. You would probably have to request that your artist order specifically vegan inks (and possibly pay extra for them) but there are also 100% vegan tattoo shops.

It's surprising how pervasive animal products are and in areas you never expect. Thanks for bring this to my attention.

wow. Thanks for making me freakout thinking that there is animal product permenantly in my skin!!
