Fish is meat, so no vegetarians don't eat meat. People who only eat *fish* are called pescetarians. They are omnivores not vegetarians. It's often confused, but they aren't vegetarians.

Fish is non vegetarian.

It is flesh of an animal.

No vegetarians eat fish, meat, poultry, crustacea or shellfish.

I hope this helps!

Yeah, well personally I dont eat it because it's classified as an animal and 'flesh'...which I don't eat :)

Vegetarians do not eat animals....any animals.

I am always AMAZED when I tell people I'm a vegetarian, and they follow up with "do you eat fish and chicken"?

Obviously, not eating red meat is a good start to a healthier lifestyle....but it is NOT vegetarian.

Fish is an amphibian - regarded as aquatic animal; having flesh on the body.

Yes fish can be considered as "MEAT", because this has all the properties of meat (of terrestrial origin) - contains mostly protein followed by Fats and Oils, this oil is rich source of Vitamin A. Fish is available Globally so enjoy it

I am a vegetarian and I don't eat fish, as it is a living creature. The best way I've heard to describe vegetarianism (as there's a lot out there that say stupid things such as "but plants are living creatures too") is to tell people, I don't eat anything that has a mother.

Personally, I consider that any animal that is killed for food should be classed as "meat". I don't understand why people say that fish isn't. Okay, so fish isn't always intensively farmed like meat is, but any animal that is killed for food is meat to me. That's why I don't eat fish, as well as not eating meat, and I consider any "vegetarian" who eats fish to be kidding themselves.

No

Dear , fish is an aquatic animal. Also it has flesh on it. So the thing is simple. Fish is considered as meat. while eating fish, one feels like he/she is eating a dead animals skin, flesh, etc.
Mostly vegeterians cant even see others eating animals'flesh. SO YOUR ANSWER IS THAT "FISH GETS CONSIDERED AMONGST THE MEATS."

Yes of course. Any living animal counts as a meat. It is ridiculous to choose to refuse to eat some animals and not others.

I'm also amazed when people ask this question.

Of course fish is meat! The only difference between fish and a cow is that fish lives in water. That's it. Fish is still classed as meat. Look in a dictionary.

And no, vegetarians do not eat fish.

The term for people who the only meat they eat is fish would be a PESCETARIAN.

My moto: "If it had a face, don't eat it"

Meat is the flesh of an animal. Fish are animals. Vegetarians don't eat fish or any other members of the animal kingdom.

Here is the definition of vegetarian from the nice people who made up the word. It's their word, so they get to say what the definition is. http://www.vegsoc.org/info/definitions.h...

I agree with Lizzie, my thing is 'I don't eat anything that had a face.'

A lot of people say that even though they're vegetarians it's alright to eat fish for some reason I've never really understood as is it a living animal and vegetarians don't eat meat or flesh, and seeing as fish have both of these qualaties, fish eaters aren't classed as vegetarians.

I don't eat fish, because I don't eat things that had feelings and a face, but some vegetarians do.

There are about a billion types of vegetarians (ok, that's an exaggeration :] ).

Common Types
Vegetarian (lacto-ovo): Doesn't eat things that were once alive (meat, chicken, fish)
Vegan: Doesn't eat any animal product (milk, eggs, cheese, meat, fish)
Pescetarian: Eats no meat except fish (beef, pork, chicken)

There are more types, but those are the big ones.

Heya

Yeah fish is considered meat. Vegetarians are described in the dictonary as someone who does not eat meat, fish, poultry or slaughter by-products.

People that do eat fish but no other meat are called Pescetrians or pesco vegetarians.

=] xxx

Fish is an animal, and vegetarians don't eat animals.
