Is it possible to go vegan without tofu, meat subs., and soymilk?!

Question: Im trying to go vegan (again). I hate eggs because they are so gross and slimy in your mouth. I hate the taste of milk, even in cereal , but its the hidden ingredients in food that get me. I cant buy tofu where I am, but I can get soymilk SOMETIMES. I can also get soy "chicken" nuggets but it says May contain milk ingredients, so can I eat it?
I also have a lactose,gelatin-free multivitamin that I'll take at night.

Any tips, etc?

It is totally possible. I know several vegans who are allergic to soy, and they are happy healthy people.

You can avoid hidden animal ingredients by simply avoiding processed foods (crackers, cookies, etc) and building your diet with whole grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and legumes.

Try searching the web for online vegan food stores (like foodfight.com) - they'll ship/deliver almost anywhere, and you can get the staples you need. Also, there are varieties of non-dairy milks that are packaged in tetra-paks - these can last on your pantry shelf for several months unopened. If you have the opportunity to make a trip to another city/town, bring a cooler and stock-up on tofu and tempeh - they'll last a VERY long time in your freezer.

Stuck on meal ideas? Get online - there's TONNES of vegan food blogs and recipe pages. My favorites are fatfreevegan.com, theppk.com, and veganyumyum.com. And get yourself a great vegan cookbook. Anything by Isa Chandra Moskowitz or Dreena Burton is awesome. Vegan With A Vengeance was my first vegan cookbook (I have something like 14 vegan cookbooks in total), and a year and a half later it's still a favorite.

Best of luck!

If you are vegan- no milk ingredients are aloud- so no- you can't get it.
As for going vegan minus the tofu etc. Of course you can! :)
You only need as a female between 20-26 grams of protein per day. That is only 10-15% of you daily calories. That means, you can eat beans, lentils, nuts, legumes, seed, and all other veggies contain proteins and the nutrients you would like. Endame is a soy bean- if they sell those at your local supermarket- buy it, you can make your own soy milk, and your own tofu :)
As for lunches and breakfast- you can still make pancakes!
Aunt Jemima Whole Wheat Pancake/Waffle Mix is vegan plus you can make some yummy hasbrowns.
Lunches- I suggest you become friends with lentil soup- packed with protein and fiber to keep you full and active :)

I can help anyone go vegan :)

I'm trying to go vegan too! :)
I hate eggs- yuck!! It's probably best to eat lots of fruits and veg, wholegrains and dairy substitutes. I love snacking on nuts/seeds. They're great!

Get support from the vegetarians and vegans on this forum. I know a lot of people on here who are really supportive of me. The Vegan Society's website is useful too.

I support you !! :)

i think vegans can have tofu and soymilk

I DONY KNOW WHAT TO TELL U BECAUSE I LIVE IN NYC (BROOKLYN TO BE EXACT) AND THERE ARE SOOOO MANY VEGAN OPTIONS. I COULDNT IMAGINE BEING A VEGAN IF THERE WERENT THE VARIETY OF THING TO CHOOSE FROM . IT IS POSSIBLE BUT I CAN SEE YOU BEING VERY BORED. LIKE EVERYONE IS SAYING U CAN GO ONLINE BUT WHO WANTS TO ORDER FOOD ONLINE ALL THE TIME. AS FAR A THE SOY NUGGETS, MOST VEGANS WOULDNT NOT EAT IT BECAUSE THERE IS THE SLIGHT POSSIBLITY THAT THERE IS AN ANIMAL PRODUCT IN IT. THAT CHOICE IS URS. SUPPLEMENTING WITH VITAMINS IS FINE BUT NOT SUPPLEMENT MEALS. I SUGGEST THAT YOU START BUYING SOME RECIPE AND EDUCATIONAL BOOKS. START RESEARCHING PLACES IN SURROUNDING AREAS TO SEE WHAT THEY OFFER.
