As a vegetarian, what supplements should I be taking?!
Answers:
It is important for vegetarians to consume adequate amounts of nutrients, either from foods, fortified foods or supplements!. FYI these are requirements of which you should be aware!.
PROTEIN - Most people need about 0!.8 g/kg of body weight!. If you consume mostly greens you need 10 - 20 % more protein to compensate for the lower digestibility of plant base protein!.
IRON - RDA for iron is about 2X higher for vegetarians; 27 mg versus 15 mg!.
ZINC - Marginal deficiencies in zinc may be present in vegetarians because of inhibitors of absorption in the diet!. Vegetarians may need 50% more zinc if their diet is high in green vegetables!.
IODINE - Vegetarians generally consume less iodine than the general population!. The RDA for iodine is 150 mcg ( 1/2 tsp of iodized salt or 1/10 tsp of kelp powder!.
VITAMIN B12 - Strongly recommended because it is difficult to maintain adequate levels on a primarily vegetarian diet!.

There really is no need to take any supplements on a veggie diet!.
Like any other diet, you have to make sure you get a balance of foods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Take any standard multi-vitamin for safety's sake but you'd be better off just eating healthy, nutritious foods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
this would depend on your diet!. if you have a well rounded diet you shouldn't need anything!. i take a multivitamin to be safe (because i think EVERYONE should take one), but make sure that if you do take one you don't use one with gelatin as an ingredient!. it's used in most vitamins!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
