Answers:
A vegan!? well, if you do decide to take b12 (good for the immune system and energy levels) then be careful, vitamins have gellatin in them, commonly made out of cow hooves!.!.!. Good luck!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes, I take B12, it gives you energy and nutrientsWww@FoodAQ@Com

You became a vegan without researching it!?

Yes, you need to take a B12 supplement!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it's in marmite :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you don't take vitamin b12 you need to make absolutely sure you are getting a good source of it - a vitamin b12 deficiency is dangerous, that is why the vegan society recommend all vegans take a supplement!. Very low B12 intakes can cause anaemia and nervous system damage!. Personally I don't take one but i am a complete marmite monster so i am getting what i need from that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you eat fortified foods often like soy or rice milk or cereals you will probably be fine!. However, if you seldom eat these things you should take a supplement!.

This is the one that I used to take when I took supplements!.

Hi, I think it depends on what you include in your diet, I get my RDA of B12 with drinking Soya Milk but I know its the one vitamin that a lot of vegans take!.

What every vegan should know about vitamin B12
Very low B12 intakes can cause anaemia and nervous system damage!.

The only reliable vegan sources of B12 are foods fortified with B12 (including some plant milks, some soy products and some breakfast cereals) and B12 supplements!. Vitamin B12, whether in supplements, fortified foods, or animal products, comes from micro-organisms!.

Most vegans consume enough B12 to avoid anaemia and nervous system damage, but many do not get enough to minimise potential risk of heart disease or pregnancy complications!.

To get the full benefit of a vegan diet, vegans should do one of the following:

eat fortified foods two or three times a day to get at least three micrograms (μg or mcg) of B12 a day or

take one B12 supplement daily providing at least 10 micrograms or

take a weekly B12 supplement providing at least 2000 micrograms!.
If relying on fortified foods check the labels carefully to make sure you are getting enough B12!. For example, if a fortified plant milk contains 1 microgram of B12 per serving then consuming three servings a day will provide adequate vitamin B12!. Others may find the use of B12 supplements more convenient and economical!.

The less frequently you obtain B12 the more B12 you need to take, as B12 is best absorbed in small amounts!. The recommendations above take full account of this!. There is no harm in exceeding the recommended amounts or combining more than one option!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you can find other sources of B12 besides meat and make it a regular part of your diet, you should be in good shape!. But B12 deficiency can cause macrocytic anemia!. Not sure how long it takes but it's best to supplement so you don't have to worry about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No just get it in the stuff you eat: Tofu, plant based milk, tempeh fortified with b, or yeast flakes with b!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My suggestion - for what it is worth - is that 'YES' you should supplement your intake of B12!. They have found that even those that eat meat have a problem with having enough within their diet which I found interesting - it isn't just a vegetarian/vegan problem!.

"Vegetarian Times" has an article in their April 2008 issue that is an eye opener - and will go against what many will say here!.

No matter what you decide to do - make sure that you eat foods that are fortified with B12/cobalamin!. You can get vitamins that are totally vegan that will meet the need!.

Side effects from not having enough of this vitamin are not pretty - "nerve damage that can bring about nasty sensations and sensory loss, anemia, irritability, personality changes, and depression" to quote just a few!.

I play it safe and take vitamins!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It would hurt, just get it along with your daily multi vitamin!. Since our food supply is so over processed it pays to take supplements!. In an ideal would we would all eat organicly grown food that wasn't over cooked or over processed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You really should get some B12 capsules/vitamins because really the only way you can get it is from dairy products, and vegans obviously can't eat those!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

YES a thousand times yes! Whether added to food (soy milk, tempeh, veggie burgers) or in a supplement, please make sure you are getting enough B12!. It nearly impossible to overdose, so don't worry!. I was getting more than 1 mcg from food and I thought I was save, turns out I have B12 anemia!. So really be careful!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. I started taking b12 when I went vegan for the first time, however after doing research into what foods contain what nutrients, I realized that I didn't need it!. Just eat a healthy, varied diet with plenty of plant based protein and you'll be fine!. This site helped me alot: http://www!.dolenutrition!.com/facts_ae!.as!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It all depends on your diet and lifestyle!.
B12 is found in bacteria poop!. Fermented food, in your digestive tract, in your mouth, on the skin of fruits and vegetables, in dirt, !.!.!. it's all over the place!. But, having a very sterile diet and lifestyle, you may need to take a supplement, or just make sure you are eating fermented products such as miso, tempeh, natto, soy yoghurt, and making sure your digestive tract is healthy with lots of 'flora' (the digestive bacteria)!. Things such as antibiotics, alcoholic beverages, junk food diets, etc!. will affect your digestive bacteria!. You can also include nutritional yeast in your diet as it has B12 in it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vitamin B12 is a very important vitamin and vegans should eat something that has it added into it like some juices, take supplements, or get B12 injections!.

This is the only juice I know that has it added into it:
