How to break the news?!
I went to a singles event and met a guy who said his favorite hobby is fishing!. He seems very interested in me and has e-mailed to suggest getting together!. He has no idea that I'm vegan, and I'm not sure when would be a good time to break the news!. Before we meet!? While we're eating!? Only if he asks why I'm not eating meat!?
Another thing!.!.!. do you see any difference between dating people who eat meat and dating people who kill animals with their own hands!? Would you date one and not the other!? Why / why not!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should break the news to him whenever you feel comfortable!. No matter what situation you're in he is going to have the same reaction!. If he's really interested (and obviously you are too) then it shouldn't be a problem!. There are a ton of couples out there who are of different diet/lifestyles, but somehow they all work out!. If he reacts negatively, assure him that you are not out to change him (unless you are)!.
If you try to tell him that he can't fish anymore there may be a problem, but otherwise, no worries!
For your second question, yes I would prefer dating someone who shared my vegan ideals because those beliefs are a great part of my life!.!.!.not all-encompassing but a large portion!. However, I could get past the difference in opinion if I felt the person was right for me!.
I haven't dated in awhile, but I think I still know how the "dance" works!.
EDIT: I just reread your second question and realized I didn't answer fully!. I would rather my partner hunt or fish than buy flesh that came from a commercially raised animal!. At least that way the animal had a natural life rather than suffered throughout!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I dont see what the big deal is!. You dont have to go fishing and eat meat with him!. There are plenty of couples who have one person a vegan and the other a meat eater!. I know a couple in which the girl is a hardcore vegan and her boyfriend is a meat eater!. This definetly shouldnt stop you from dating!.
I think you should ask what you'll be doing on the date, and if its nothing to do with killing animals (ex: fishing) then dont mention it until you go eat (IF you do go out to eat)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just wait until you are going to eat unless something comes up in a conversation beforehand that you would have to tell him about it!.
I am a vegetarian and am with a meat eater, I wouldn't care if he went fishing and brought home fish from it to eat!. It sure beats what they do to the fish in the big farms!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think that you should gradually tell him and avoid the restaurants!. Or you could tell him that you don't eat meat first, (don't tell him vegan yet because it might scare him off) and you could just order a veggie platter at a restaurant or something!. I don't think that you should make it a big deal, but if you guys start talking about food, then you can kind of ease the fact in there that you are a veggie!. I don't think that fishing or hunting makes anyone less of a person!. If I were an animal, I would much rather die quick in the wild than in a slaughter house (even though I don't think they should die either way!.)!. Good luck and I hope it works out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It's no big deal so I would tell him when the subject comes up!. I'm vegan and my boyfriend is a meat-eater and goes fishing but we get on fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
haha tell him you're a lesbian (or straight if you're a bloke) then when he gets over all the "um-er"'s then say "oh sorry, I meant vegan" and when he realises he may still get some he will just be relieved!.
Haha funny!. Seriously but, don't do that!.
I wouldn't date anybody who wasn't vego at the very least!. Why!? We would not have enough in common!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If its a show-stopping issue for you, you should tell him now!.
Whats the point in stringing him along if you know his fishing Vs your veganism is a relationship-killer
Its its an issue, you might as well get it on the table to see if it matters!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not really a big deal so tell him as soon as possible!. Chances are you will find he really doesn't care so long as you are respect his choice of diet to the same degree you wish him to respect your own!. When it comes to eating together socially it may be difficult to find restuarants that cater for you both but not impossible!. If you are both sensible and mature there really should not be an issue here!.
With regards to people who kill with their own hands, I see no difference between that and people who buy meat killed by someone else!. If anything, people who kill themselves are more honest because they do not hide from the reality of what they are eating!. I would also suggest that hunting and killing for food (NOT "SPORT" or "RECREATION") is a far more humane and sustainable practice than meat obtained through modern day commercial farming practices!. Obviously I am assuming the person in question does not hunt endangered species etc)Www@FoodAQ@Com

You need to tell him immediately so he can cut and run!! I'd date girls that have killed with their own hands cause I did it when I lived with my uncle!. also when hunting and fishing, but I don't consider that killing with my own hands!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Fish is okay because they could be eaten by wild animals!. And the meat is not like the meat of a cow!. And fish is brain food!. So why not just tell him!? It will be okay!. if he hunts deer then that is different!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
