There's protein in tonnes of stuff! If you're vegetarian, you can still eat cheese and eggs!. It's also good to eat beans - to allow your body to get used to them to not have THAT problem, try mashing them into burgers first!. They have tonnes or protein, and their are so many different varieties! Just be careful of kidney and other red beans, as they're toxic if not cooked correctly!. There's also soy, a high protein food (also a bean), found in soy milk, tofu, tempeh!. You can make up protein by combining amino acids - if you eat say some veg with wholegrain pasta you'll have enough to make a whole protein!. My rule is: for every dish, add something else!. E!.g!. if it's a salad, I add seeds, if I'm making burgers, I'll add a vegetable or bean!. Just experiment, and remember to eat a rainbow! Look up veggie recipes and you'll discover a whole load of different foods that you've never had before!Www@FoodAQ@Com

anyway , one of the main problems with vegetarian is not the protein but the lack of iron, the only veg I know that is well-know to have iron is spinach!.!.!. and you've got to eat alot of it to equal to the same amount of 1 serving of red meat!.!.!.hence for this reason, you've got to have supplements !.!.!. see your nearest doctor or nutritionist for detail advice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

beans legumes in general, tofu, and you can use protein powders in your drinks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wow, you're getting answers across the board, aren't you!? If you're going to be an ovo-lacto vegetarian, you can eat eggs and dairy, which both supply a lot of protein!. If you're not going to eat eggs and dairy, get your protein from soy, nuts, legumes (beans, peas, lentils), and some whole grains!. Quinoa is a very nutritious whole grain that has a lot of protein in it!. If you plan your meals correctly, you should have no problem getting enough protein without meat!. In fact, american diets are often too high in protein these days!. Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First of all!.!.!. YAY for you!!! going vegan is the best thing I've ever done and I wish you all the best!.

To get enough protein, just make sure you're eating enough calories (don't live on only vegetables) and include fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains in your diet!.

High protein vegetarian foods include almonds, black beans, cashews, fake meats, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), kidney beans, lentils, peanut butter, pinto beans, seitan, soybeans, soymilk, sunflower seeds, textured vegetable protein (TVP), and tofu!.

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

First I want to let you know, I find it totally sexy when a man gives up eating meat!. lol

Anyway!.!.
Just eat a variety of foods, and you wont have to worry about it!.
Vegetables
Fruits
Nuts
Beans
Soy (if you want)
And so forth!.!.!.!.

Many more people are sick in America because of too much protein than not enough!. Even some vegetarians get more protein than they need!.

Good for you and good luck! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

try not thinking about it, because i was trying it also the first time and i wasn't sure about it either!. it great with fish meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can get protein in a zillion places without touching meat!.

-Legumes (nuts/seeds, & beans)
-dairy products
-whole wheat products
-fibrous fruits/veggies (figs, spinach, artichokes, broccoli, advocado!.!.!.!.the list goes on)
-tofu
-TVP (textured vegetable protein--it's actually soy--but it has about 50 grams of protein in a serving! not even kidding!. You can find it in the bulk section of the grocery store--it makes great veggie burgers!)
-seitan (pronounced SAY-tan--basically condensed soybean patties!. they make great sandwiches)

You can also find a lot of great vegetarian foods at ethnic grocers--Asian, Mexican, and Indian are just a few great options!. Don't be afraid to try something new! Being vegetarian opens up a ton of new doors!.

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Before, you have to think about the pros and cons of becoming a vegetarian!.

I tried it once but found that i missed meat alot (especially bacon and chicken)!. You have to remember that red meat contains iron which is essential for the blood!. I also found it hard to go out for something to eat, as i always wanted a meat or fish option!. It can get hard when you are around, or cooking for people who still eat meat aswell!. I have a friend that is competely vegan, and she has problems with her compextion, she is very spotty!.

On the other hand, i felt that i had more energy and it was easier to get up in a morning due to all the fruit and veg i had been eating!. I also felt healthier in myself and knew i was doing my bit towards the in-humane slaugher of animals!.

However, in the end i missed it from my diet too much, especially as i have been bogught up on a farm!. One a meat-eater always a meat-eater i say ! :) Hope this helps xWww@FoodAQ@Com
